Barton County Historical Society Executive Director Richard Lartz will present a program on Barton County resident James Fugate and his experiences as a teamster in 1853 on the Santa Fe Trail.
The program will include an examination of Fugate’s account, the historical context of his experiences, an assessment of his story and a question and answer forum.
The program will be Monday, Sept. 27 at 7 p.m. at the Barton County Historical Society in Great bend and light refreshments will be provided to attendees.
The program is presented by the Barton County Historical Society as part of the celebration of the Santa Fe Trail’s 200th anniversary and as part of the museum’s ongoing mission to share knowledge about Barton County’s history.
