Like Evil‘s first season, Evil Season 2 is finally getting back to some of its main plot points, and it looks like we’re racing toward what is going to be a genuinely horrifying season finale. Let me preface this recap by noting that is a lot going on in Evil Season 2, Episode 10, “O is for Ovaphobia.” But let’s begin with RSM Fertility Clinic because it’s a storyline we’ve all been waiting to revisit for a while now.

With all roads leading back to RSM, David, Ben and Kristen start contacting the parents they’ve met who conceived children through the clinic, beginning with Kristen herself. She doesn’t tell David and Ben about Lexus’s teeth problem, although at this point, she doesn’t necessarily have a reason to be concerned about it.

Next, they interview Mathilda’s (the girl who was starting fires and supposedly haunted by a jinn) mom from the third episode of this season.  According to her, they never had issues with Mathilda as a child, except for her teeth! She had sharp canines that had to be molded down, just like Lexus. Then they talk to Eric’s mom. Remember him? In the first season’s harrowing fourth episode, he was the demonic kid who tried to drown his baby sister.

Little Olive is doing well, thankfully, although the implication was that Eric’s parents killed him. His mom mentions that she hopes their “legal troubles” disappear soon. As for her experience with RSM, she claims that it was fine, although they stopped using the clinic when their preferred doctor, Cara Autry, left.

The name Cara Autry is important because Kristen discovers that Cara has been paying to store 12 of her eggs for the past six years. Understandably, Kristen is disturbed and confused by this, so she confronts Cara (Francesca Faridany) at her office, and things quickly turn nasty. For starters, Cara claims she is a fierce religious advocate with pro-life tendencies.

When people can’t pay for their eggs or “abandon” them, she takes over to pay for it since she considers these eggs unborn children rather than a cell. Kristen doesn’t appreciate having her agency undermined and threatens to bring Cara up on malpractice charges. It gets heated between them as Cara starts spouting lies and threatening to continue lying all the way to court if necessary.

Luckily, Ben, Kristen and David seem to have considered the possibility that Cara would turn out to be a problem for them, so Ben and David are waiting outside to follow the good doctor. And guess where she goes? Directly to Leland’s apartment. That’s not a good sign.

Things get even weirder later when Kristen returns to the clinic with a court order demanding they transfer all 12 of her eggs back to her to a secure storage facility. The overly cheery receptionist tells her they only have 11 eggs in storage now, despite Kristen’s original records to the contrary. That’s definitely not a good sign. Who has Kristen’s other egg, and what are they planning to do with it?

Evil Season 2, Episode 10 recap: Lexus struggles with body image issues

Speaking of callbacks to Season 1, the dreads beauty vlogger Malindaz returns this week (the woman who got “Pudsy’s Christmas” stuck in everyone’s heads and also worked for Leland). Lexus is still listening to Malindaz and all of her harmful rhetoric regarding body image.

Based on what she hears from the YouTuber, Lexus starts to believe she’s fat and takes drastic measures to fix it, including wrapping plastic wrap around her thighs, messing with her growing canines and using extensive filtering on photoshop apps. Kristen still hasn’t addressed the deal with Lexus’s teeth, so I’m not entirely sure where the writing is going with that, but the most shocking revelation in this episode is easily the reveal that Lexus now has a fully-grown tail.

It’s not a little fleshy nub, either. It’s a legitimate lizard-like tail protruding from Lexus’s backside. But for whatever reason, only Lexus appears to be able to see it. We get a look at it when she stands in the mirror and turns to the side. Is the tail real? Is it part of Lexus’s skewed idea of what she really looks like? Is this tail only visible to demonic people? I don’t know, but WTF.

Evil Season 2, Episode 10 recap: Ben tries to help Vanessa excise Maggie

As I mentioned, there are more than the usual amount of storylines to juggle this week. Most shows tap out at three, but Evil Season 2, Episode 10, has four! Poor Ben just wants to help his girlfriend Vanessa get rid of her paranormal attachment: her deceased sister, Maggie. But doing so is easier said than done.

According to Vanessa, Maggie has become more of a handful lately, resorting to trashing her apartment for attention. Vanessa pleads with Ben to help her because she doesn’t want to live with her sister’s poltergeist antics anymore. They visit Miss Marie (Patrice Johnson Chevannes), who you might recognize from the “Z is for Zombies” episode when she gave Lilah and Alex the medicine to cure Alex’s dad of his “zombism.”

This time, Miss Marie performs a seancé and exorcism of sorts on Vanessa to get rid of Maggie for good. At the end of the session, she declares that Maggie is gone—and charges $350 for her services.

At first, it appears that everything went according to plan, and Vanessa is happier than ever. Even if Ben isn’t 100% convinced that this whole thing is real, he’s glad that his girlfriend is pleased. But this is Evil, and it doesn’t take long for things to get weird.

When Ben revisits Vanessa, she is completely transformed, uninhibited, over-the-top, and a little aggressive. Vanessa and Ben have incredible sex, better than ever, which Vanessa claims is because before, her sister was holding her back (it’s weird to bang while your spirit sibling is watching you), but now she’s free and can let loose.

Vanessa points to her right side to clarify her sister is no longer attached. Oops. Ben questions why she did that: Maggie was attached to her left shoulder. As the night progresses, Ben gets a sneaking suspicion that the person in bed beside him might be Maggie and not Vanessa. What if Maggie possessed her sister during the seancé?

To confirm that something has gone terribly wrong, Ben gets a phone call from Vanessa while “Vanessa” is supposedly standing in the room next to him! The girl on the phone sounds like Vanessa, but the woman in front of him looks and sounds like her, too! What the heck is going on here!? Ben doesn’t know either, so he hightails it out of her apartment until he can figure it out.

Evil Season 2, Episode 10 recap: Sheryl gets caught in a sinister scheme

Finally, we have Sheryl, who is still doing weird, unexplained stuff. That said, Sheryl gets in over her head this week in a way that makes it appear like she might be out of her depth hanging out with Leland and his buddies.

Leland invites her to an “influencer” party. Sheryl arrives in a stunning (stolen) red dress (that she looks fantastic in, by the way). She sticks out like a sore thumb because all of the other attendees are wearing white. Could this group be the mysterious “60” we’ve heard whisperings of throughout the show?

At the party, Sheryl meets Edward Tragoren (Tim Matheson). The two hit it off instantly, and Edward invites her to meet him later at the bar. There, he gives her a drink. “What’s in this?” “Poison.” Sheryl laughs it off, but he might have been telling the truth.

After sipping the cocktail, Sheryl slowly becomes paralyzed from head to toe and finds herself in the clutches of Edward and Leland in Leland’s apartment. They put Sheryl on the floor, and Leland sticks a butterfly needle in the back of her knee, doing the same thing to Edward. He then starts pumping some strange chocolate milk-colored liquid into both of them. Again, I say, WTF?

And the weirdness doesn’t end there. When Leland goes to retrieve the jarred goo from his storage room, we see two women wrapped up like cocoons inside. One of them is Dr. Cara Autry, and she seems happy to oblige him. Why does Leland have Cara stored away? What did he inject into Sheryl?

Since Cara’s car remains parked outside Leland’s building for a lengthy period, David goes inside to investigate and runs into Sheryl and Edward exiting Leland’s apartment. They look completely happy and healthy; in fact, they look even better than they did before the weird transfusion scene. Sheryl vaguely recognizes David as Kristen’s “priest friend” and introduces him to Edward.

Of course, Leland isn’t home, and they claim not to know anyone named Cara Autry. Who knows whether they’re telling the truth or not. For now, David can’t do anything but let them walk away. Hopefully, he tells Kristen what he saw regarding her mother, though.

Odds & Ends from Evil Season 2, Episode 10

  • The receptionist at RSM casually tells Kristen that the world is coming to an end soon. That tracks with the crazy visions David was having earlier this season!
  • With all the callbacks in this episode, was anyone else expecting to hear “Pudsy’s Christmas” at any second?
  • The name “Mr. Tragoren” just sounds demonic, right?
  • Edward has a double pupil which is a rare medical condition called a “pupula duplex.” The condition is part of old folklore and superstition related to the “evil eye” and is also believed to be the sign of witchcraft and all kinds of horror.
