Here are five key numbers from USC’s 45-14 win over Washington State:

13.03

That’s how many yards per completion freshman quarterback Jaxson Dart racked up. It’s part of why USC has to consider Dart as the new starter; junior Kedon Slovis has only moved the ball an average of 9.37 yards per completion this season. Dart’s 391 passing yards in his first game is not far off Slovis’ total (479) through the first two games, either.

174

That’s how many yards USC out-gained Washington State by in the third quarter; USC accumulated 172 total yards of offense, while holding the Cougars to negative-two yards. It was a huge breakthrough for a team that has struggled to make halftime adjustments.

6

That’s how many tackles for loss USC racked up, including three sacks. The Trojans only totaled six TFLs in the first two games of the season, and no sacks in that span, so Saturday represented a breakout performance for the defensive front that was supposed to star for USC this season.

35

That’s how many yards USC surrendered due to penalties against the Cougars, a massive improvement on the 111 from Week 2. The Trojans only gave up one first down due to penalty.

1.9

That’s how many yards USC averaged over the course of 25 carries against the Cougars. After strong starts to the season, RBs Vavae Malepeai and Keaontay Ingram averaged 1.0 and 2.3 yards per carry, respectively.
