The Summary
  • The Warriors opened the match with a bang, facilitating through the midfield from the opening faceoff. Meghan Blanchette worked the ball over to Emma Rogorzenski who passed it up to Ella Cormier. With the ball at the top of the 18 yard box, Cormier worked through two defenders, edging out for a low finish through the goalkeeper who came out to challenge.
  • Howard responded midway through the first half, drawing the game even on a long pass through the midfield that was finished six yards out.
  • Merrimack took the lead in the 65' as Rebecca Harty sent a potent ball into the box on a free kick from the midfield. Off a bounce into the box, the goalkeeper came out too early to challenge, leaving Sydney Haskin with room to fight the defender and grab the ball for the lead.
  • Late in the match, Abigail Cieri added the third of the day from active play up the wings. From 25 yards out along the near side, Rogorzenski pulled away using the small amount of uncovered space for a pass on a rope to Molly Murnane with a burst of speed up the side. Head up, Murnane saw an unmarked Cieri at the far post and fought off her defender for a pass through the box for a finish low right.
