Salt Lake Police are looking for an 18-year-old suspect who assaulted a 17-year-old East High School student and hit them on the head with a firearm.
According to a press release issued by Salt Lake Police, the assault happened on Friday night near the East High School football stadium.
Officers have identified the suspect but have not named the person publicly.
The victim, according to police, witnessed an argument and fight between a woman and the 18-year-old suspect and intervened in the "domestic disturbance."
The victim who intervened and the suspect then began to fight; that's when the suspect hit the victim with the gun. No shots were fired and the victim declined medical treatment.
School resource officers provided extra security for the game and homecoming events that night the next day.
