NYPD Chief of Special Operations Chief Harry Wedin said Broadway will retire to a Connecticut pasture.

"This week, after 12 years as a crime fighter, Broadway is hanging up his shoes," Wedin tweeted. "Broadway has patrolled the streets of NYC after joining the #NYPD at the age of 5. He will be spending his retirement on a local farm in Connecticut. Congratulations & thank you for your service!"

The NYPD's Mounted Patrol Unit dates back to 1858 and currently features about 50 horses, according to the Chief Leader.
