The Early County School System is struggling to keep faculty. So now, they're hoping money will be a reason to stay.
At the Board of Education meeting earlier this week, board members approved pay raises for paraprofessionals and food service workers. The incentive was approved to retain and increase workers in the school.
Superintendent Dr. Ragan-Martin says they’ve had a difficult time since the pandemic with employment and they are just trying to recruit and retain quality workers. She also says staffing increase and retention is their biggest goal right now to save their district from shutting down said Dr. Ragan- Martin.
“Fortunately, we have been able to stay open since we have started but we did have to delay the school start day by a week because we had a lot of teachers out due to COVID-19 when we were about to come back to school.”
Paraprofessionals and food service workers can expect to see a 10% raise. The pay increases are said to retro back to July 1 of this year when faculty and staff began working.
Early County Schools are currently accepting applications for substitutes, teachers, bus drivers, and food service workers. You can apply here.
