Henry Street Festival brings music, fun and fellowship to the Star City

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – Music of all sorts filled the air in downtown Roanoke on Saturday for the Henry Street Music Festival.

Elmwood Park played host to the event which celebrated African American heritages and featured all sorts of crafts, cuisines and merchandise.

There was also a theatrical tribute to the historical Henry Street.

“Black history in Roanoke runs deep. We have made a great number of contributions to the community. We think it’s imperative that we find ways to make sure what we’ve done to bolster Roanoke and the economy…that we continue to tell our story.”

The Harrison Museum of African American Culture is one vehicle that helps ensure the story of African Americans is told across the region.

All of the money raised from the event benefits the museum’s ongoing programs and operations.
