In a recent interview with Chris Kirschner of The Athletic, Atlanta Hawks star Bogdan Bogdanovic stated that he still believed that the team are still underdogs this season. The Hawks had such success last season, they are not going to be able to sneak up on anyone.

They still deserve to be in the conversation as one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference. They have a deep roster and with the moves that they made in the offseason, they appear to have fixed their weaknesses. The signing of Gorgui Dieng and the trade that bought them Delon Wright will have playoff implications.

On top of that, they surely will not have another season full of injuries like they did in the last one but that is something that you cannot bank on. We are yet to see news on the rehabilitation of De’Andre Hunter’s knee and Onyeka Okongwu is already out for the first three months of the season.

The Atlanta Hawks are going to be back up the top of the East again

Despite Bogdanovic stating that the Hawks are underdogs again this season, there is little to suggest that they will be falling down the standings any time soon. They made sure they secured the backup big man role and also are trying Delon Wright as the next player to try and solve the backup point guard conundrum.

On top of that, the team, who added more veterans last offseason has had a full season for their starters and main bench players to build chemistry. Welcoming Hunter and Cam Reddish back will also help their chances of staying at the top.

The Hawks are also tremendous when they play at home which means that they will come close to getting the wins needed to make the playoffs. They will also be able to beat a lot of the lower teams in the NBA which should see them in the top-four seed in the East.

With the season only six weeks away, the Hawks are starting to prepare. They have training camp coming at the end of September and then preseason starting in early October. Hawks fans should be excited for what is going to be a tremendous season. They should have the mindset of an underdog but it looks like they will have a tremendous season.
