Richard Sherman is looking to come back to the NFL after a tumultuous 2021 to date. After being released by the San Francisco 49ers in February 2021, Sherman had some issues off the field. In July of this year, he was arrested due to claims of domestic violence and spent the night in custody in Redmond, Washington. Sherman is currently in therapy, and there are now some rumors about NFL teams calling him as the season gets underway.

According to Tom Pelissero from NFL.com, multiple teams have contacted Sherman. Two of his former teams, the 49ers and Seattle Seahawks, have been linked to him. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers also recently got in touch with Sherman. Both the Buccaneers and 49ers recently lost starting cornerbacks, with Sean Murphy-Bunting (Buccaneers) and Jason Verrett (49ers) both going on the shelf with serious injuries.

Sherman is apparently down to his old Seattle playing weight of 195 pounds and expects to be on the field at some point this season. Money is a factor, though, and it's one reason why he wasn't signed earlier in free agency.

Sherman is a five-time Pro-Bowler, with three All-Pro First Teams and two All-Pro Second Teams on his resume. Assuming he is healthy and ready to play, it is undeniable that his experience and quality would be a major boost for any team that ends up signing him.
