Three Reasons You Should Choose a Deluxe Resort at Walt Disney World

Walt Disney World’s Deluxe Resorts are exactly as they sound; they’re the most expensive Resorts — but they also offer the most amenities, the most dining options, and (arguably) the most style.

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort

The Deluxe Resorts include the three Monorail Resorts — Polynesian Village, Grand Floridian, and Contemporary — plus Wilderness Lodge, Beach Club Resort, Yacht Club Resort, BoardWalk Inn, and Animal Kingdom Lodge. Not sure if a Deluxe Resort is right for you?

Here are three reasons you should choose a Deluxe Resort at Walt Disney World!

Amenities

If there’s one thing that sets the Deluxe Resorts apart from the Value and Moderate options, it’s the amenities! One of these amenities is the wide selection of dining options. Restaurants like ‘Ohana (a Polynesian Village Resort favorite), California Grill (at Contemporary Resort), and Chef Mickey’s (also Contemporary!) are crowd favorites! Deluxe Resorts feature multiple dining options, often including a character meal and a Signature dining experience as well as one or more Quick Service locations.

On top of that, Deluxe Resorts feature larger rooms with better amenities (we’re talking higher-end furniture, better and more toiletries, and (in some cases) balconies) making a “Resort Day” an even more relaxing experience. Plus, it’s always nice to come back to a great room with comfortable accommodations, especially after a long day at the parks.

With fitness centers and spas available well, there are plenty of ways to unwind and break a sweat! There are also arcades, bike and watercraft rentals, and plenty of other amenities to enjoy depending on your Resort.

Another added benefit to staying in the Deluxe tier is more time in the Parks! That’s right: Deluxe and Deluxe Villa Resort guests are able to enjoy Extended Evening Hours on select dates!

With Deluxe Resorts comes deluxe theming! Disney puts extra time and effort to make sure the Deluxe Resorts are as immersive as possible. For example, Animal Kingdom Lodge has its own savanna with animals including zebras, giraffes, and dozens of others calling the Resort grounds home. You won’t find that in the Moderate or Value categories!

Deluxe Resorts also have elaborate decor and architecture designed to replicate the Resort’s inspiration. Trust us, you won’t feel like you’re in Florida when you’re at the Deluxe Resorts. Polynesian Village Resort really pulls out all the stops, even offering villas that are out over the water of Seven Seas Lagoon!

Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, with its log cabin-meets-grand hall lobby, instantly transports you to the frontier! Outside of Wilderness Lodge, the landscaping and trees perfectly replicate the American frontier, immersing you even more in the resort’s ambiance!

Transportation to the Parks

At some resorts, getting to the parks can be a hassle! Buses and ride-shares won’t always do. Thankfully, many of the Deluxe Resorts feature multiple ways to get to the parks. All three of the Monorail Resorts (Grand Floridian, Contemporary, and Polynesian) are directly connected to Magic Kingdom by the Monorail, which also carries guests to EPCOT via the Transportation and Ticket Center. The Grand Floridian and Contemporary also have direct access to Magic Kingdom via walkways!

Wilderness Lodge is connected to Magic Kingdom by boat, while Yacht & Beach Club and BoardWalk Inn are all connected to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios by boat and walking paths! The only exception to this transpo perk is Animal Kingdom Lodge, which only offers buses for its complimentary transportation.

Swan & Dolphin is also connected by FriendShip Boats

  1. Deluxe level resorts have club level services. A big, big plus. The food offered in the club level lounges is great. Breakfast, lunch and dinner options there. The personal service from the staff is excellent especially in helping get the elusive dinner reservation. For example, the first year Skipper Canteen restaurant opened we were not able to get a dinner reservation. Club level staff got my family a reservation but also threw in a fast pass for the Jungle Cruise ride. They go above and beyond for folks. The staff is very nice and very professional. You can’t ask for more. They deliver services to their guests in the best spirit of Walt Disney.
