  2. 'We have a lot of things to improve on'

    FT: Tottenham 0-3 Chelsea

    Tottenham Hotspur

More from Tottenham boss Nuno Espirito Santo to Sky Sports: "I'm disappointed. The first half was very good. It was a game of two halves clearly. I think in the first half we competed very well, were the better team and controlled things.

"For 50 minutes we held on before the first goal but after that the game changed. It was very hard for us. Chelsea are a good team and created us many problems.

"I don't know if we surprised them but we needed to start the match really strong and we did that. We did good pressing, recovering the ball and creating good situations. The plan was to score. There were chances to do it, we didn't do it. The first half was fantastic.

"It was a set-piece. The goal was really disappointing. After that, we struggled to regain control of the game. Chelsea are organised, have experience and it was very hard for us.

"Since we started, we have a lot of things to improve on. Even with good results and good performances we are aware we have a lot to improve on and a long way to go. We keep believing. The boys are working hard and we keep pushing.

"The first 45 minutes was huge for us. Now we have to sustain this level over the whole game."

  3. 'We felt like we were in control'

    FT: Tottenham 0-3 Chelsea

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham's Dele Alli on BBC Match of the Day: "It was tough. First half we played well and at half-time we were confident and we had a lot of belief.

"Once we went 1-0 down to a sloppy goal - and for me, it was my man so I need to take responsibility for that - it's a bit of a mountain against a team like this.

"It could have gone either way in the fist half, but if you don't punish them you can be punished and that is what happened today.

"Those small margins and opportunities make the difference. We could have been walking away from here today with the three points and a great performance. We started the game very well and at half time we were happy with ourselves. We felt like we were in control.

"I don't think the result was fair, but in the end we have to take it and move on. There are positive to take, but we are not happy with the 3-0."

  4. 'We played a better second half'

    FT: Tottenham 0-3 Chelsea

    Chelsea

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel to BBC Match of the Day: "We were too sloppy, we were not sharp enough in the first 45 minutes. We were not really bad, but not on the level that you need to have when you face a strong Tottenham side in their stadium.

"They approached the derby with a lot of energy and we lacked a little bit. Individually there were good performances, like from Thiago and Kepa in the first half. But as a team we lacked energy.

"We relied too much on skills, but its not just about skilful play - we also have to impress with work rate and intensity and we had to step up to earn a better result. And that is what we did, we played a better second half."

On N'Golo Kante's influence off the bench: "He played a huge part. N'Golo is N'Golo, he's unique, one of a kind and having him on the pitch makes such a huge difference to everything."

  5. 'There is still a long way'

    FT: Tottenham 0-3 Chelsea

    Chelsea

Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta to Sky Sports: "Everybody gets credit. If there is a main characteristic of this team it is that we play together. We had two defenders score and kept a clean sheet against a good team but we all worked really hard, especially in the second half. I think the first half was not our level. We improved a lot in the second half and were better in the duels. In the end I think we could have scored more goals.

"Of course, we expected that [from Spurs in the first half]. They are very good in the counter-attack. We lost a few balls and they were dangerous. We had a few issues with that but also created as well and were not clinical enough. In the second half we clearly dominated.

"The manager was not happy of course [at half time]. We were not happy. We were not as good as we are. We were sometimes too open. It was something we needed to address as we could not expect to win the game. The reaction was good."

On Thiago Silva: "Everybody saw today how strong he is. It was an amazing game. All around he is fantastic to have with us.

"We have played some top teams and have got results in these first few games but we have to be humble. This team has shown we are able to play against any team with the same mentality. There is still a long way and lots of work to do ahead of us."

  6. 'We want to produce results'

    FT: Tottenham 0-3 Chelsea

    Chelsea

More from Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel to Sky Sports on his substitutions: "It was a hard choice for Mason Mount and it was a bit more defensive from N'Golo Kante but I wanted to give energy.

"I was not ready to talk about the spaces here and there. It was about the second balls and duels. It was about growing in confidence through energy and ball wins and higher work-rate. That was the signal to the talk more or less."

On Thiago Silva: "It was nice that he almost scored twice. He was so strong. I am very happy for him that he was able to open the game for us. His performance even in the first half was outstanding. It was a fantastic performance and well deserved."

On Antonio Rudiger arriving late: "I was not concerned but it is strange when your player arrives late. He had some passport issues. It was like this in the first half. We were there but not fully there. I was glad we were able to overcome these situations.

"We are competitive and we want to be competitive. It is no excuse to say we are not ready. We want to produce results and we can. It's what we want at the club. We want to win. We are competitive in this level to win already but we still have things to improve. The first half was proof of that. It's good to have these hard situations now and to overcome them. We are able to produce deserved wins so it's a good basis to keep on going."

  7. 'A lot of things went wrong'

    FT: Tottenham 0-3 Chelsea

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham boss Nuno Espirito Santo on BBC Match of the Day: "There were a lot of things that went wrong. Let's start with the first half - I think it was a good game, competitive. We were on the the front foot, started pressing high, creating problems and had chances.

"In the second half, the set piece and goal changes the game. Then it becomes much harder, the game totally changed and Chelsea took control and were the better team in the second half.

"It's difficult, but I'm proud of the first half and of all the game because we had troubles in team and the players went to their limits."

On injuries and travel commitments in the past week: "We knew through the game that we would have problems, but the boys went and tried find solutions and tried to give energy with the subs. But it was a touch opponent in front of us.

"We know we have a lot of things to improve and are working to improve."

  8. 'We lacked energy in the first half'

    FT: Tottenham 0-3 Chelsea

    Chelsea

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel to Sky Sports on a game of two halves: "Yes it was, you're absolutely right. I was absolutely not happy with the first 45 minutes. There were individual performances which were great in the first half from Kepa and Thiago Silva. Even more players were good but in general we lacked intent, energy and relentless in duels and 50-50 balls.

"I had the feeling we wanted to impress by pure skills but in derbies like this it is not always about just skills. It is about aggression, winning duels and performing better as a team. We spoke clearly about it at half time. In the second half it was a very good performance and a deserved win in the second half. It was a very good reaction so I am happy with the performance in the second half."

First half was an even game and Tottenham maybe even shaded it. But after the break it was all about Chelsea. It was one-way traffic.

They had too much class for Tottenham and that is why they are title contenders.

Good pick out by Werner for the third goal. The movement from Rudiger is like a natural centre forward. Great finish.
