Two of Tim Tebow’s former teams matchup in Week 2, as the Broncos travel to Florida to take on the Jaguars. It’s time to continue our NFL odds series and make a Broncos-Jaguars prediction and pick.
Here’s how the bookmakers have set the lines for Sunday’s matchup.

Why The Broncos Could Cover
The Broncos played well from start to finish in an easy victory against the Giants last week. Teddy Bridgewater looked fantastic, throwing for 264 yards and two touchdowns. Melvin Gordon III rushed for over 100 yards and the defense recovered one fumble off of Daniel Jones. While the Giants defense is certainly not spectacular, there is a solid unit that was exposed by Bridgewater.
Now, the Broncos go into Jacksonville, where the Jaguars defense just allowed 37 points to the Texans, one of the league’s worst offenses. Is there any reason to believe the Broncos won’t put up 35+ points as well? The Jags looked off on all cylinders in Week 1 while the Broncos looked well-polished in their own Week 1 win.
If Denver’s defense can force Trevor Lawrence into similar mistakes that he made last week, this can be a route of a win for the Broncos. Plus, Jacksonville’s stadium tends to attract many fans of the opposing team, and Denver is one of the best traveling fanbases in the league.
Why The Jaguars Could Cover
Despite throwing three interceptions last week, there is some upside to be taken out of Trevor Lawrence’s Week 1 loss, his first regular-season loss in a football game since before high school. Lawrence threw for 332 yards and three passing touchdowns, reminding fans of his spectacular days at Clemson. Keep in mind, Lawrence is a rookie and will have to grow on a learning curve as he adjusts to the NFL.
Playing in his first home game, expect many Clemson fans to make the six-hour drive from Clemson to Jacksonville, to watch Lawrence play his first home game as a Jaguar. If Lawrence can learn from last week and limit his interceptions against a Broncos team that did not intercept Daniel Jones at all, the Jags can keep this game within the six-point window. I don’t see the Jags winning outright, but backed by the home crowd, Lawrence has the potential to battle with the Broncos until the final minutes.
Final Broncos-Jaguars Prediction & Pick
Based on the way they played last week, the Jaguars are going to have a long season. I don’t think Lawrence will throw another three interceptions, but I do still see him struggling against a Broncos defense that played extremely well against the Giants. Teddy Bridgewater continues to shine with another two-touchdown game as the Broncos leap out to a 14-0 lead in the first half and don’t look back.
This is the type of game that will cause NFL fans to question if Lawrence really is the future in Jacksonville. But the truth is, he’s still an inexperienced rookie, a point in one’s career that takes a lot of learning as the season progresses. The Broncos will record a few sacks on Lawrence, and Denver can win this game something like 40-17, but don’t count out Lawrence for a huge season, as there will still be 15 games remaining in 2021.
