Wisconsin-Superior dominated the U.S. Highway 2 rivalry in women's soccer on Saturday, shutting out Northland 4-0 in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference play in Ashland.
Niya Wilson scored first and last for the Yellowjackets (3-3, 1-0 UMAC), who had 22 shots on target to the Lumberjills' one, which was saved by Morgan Philliber. She and Jenna Lang shared credit for the clean sheet. Allison Alessi scored and assisted on two goals for UWS, which hosts Bethany Lutheran on Friday.

The Yellowjackets did all their damage in the first half-hour of play, cruising to a UMAC victory over the Lumberjacks in Ashland on Saturday.
Protus Babaya, Blake Doyea and Harry Ambler did the scoring, with Doyea assisting on the other two goals.
Payton Anderson (three saves) and Alex Paredes (two) combined on the shutout for UWS (2-3, 2-0 UMAC), which plays Wisconsin-Eau Claire in a non-conference game today at the NBC Spartan Sports Complex.

WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL
Bethel University Invitational
UWS volleyball had a tough Saturday in the Twin Cities, losing 3-1 decisions to Wisconsin-Stout (25-20, 25-18, 20-25, 25-22) and host Bethel (25-13, 23-25, 25-14, 25-16) in St. Paul.
Against UW-Stout, Alexie Pryd led the Yellowjackets with 15 kills, while Jenna Anderson had a game-best 22 digs. Megan Holz posted 20 assists.
In the second match, the Royals hit a torrid .346 and got 17 kills apiece from Emily Rossing and Danielle Friedges. Cassy Teff was UWS's offensive leader with 13 kills. Pryd added 12 and also had 10 digs, second only to Jenna Anderson's 12.
UWS (2-8) opens Upper Midwest Athletic Conference play on Tuesday at home vs. Northland.
