EUGENE — Oregon quarterback Anthony Brown Jr. left Saturday’s game against Stony Brook at halftime due to an apparent injury and did not return, but he is expected to be healthy going forward.
Brown was 14 for 18 for 159 yards with a touchdown and ran in a score before being sacked on back-to-back plays to end the first half as the No. 4 Ducks took a 17-7 lead into the break.
The sixth-year senior left the field at halftime appearing to favor his neck and didn’t return to the Oregon sideline during the 48-7 UO win at Autzen Stadium on Saturday.
“He took a pretty good shot there at the end of the half,” Oregon coach Mario Cristobal said. “They were just making sure that he was OK. We expect him to be OK and he looks good. We expect him to be healthy for the week.”
Cristobal said Brown “may have been available” to return, but was reserving comment on the full extent of the injury until next week.
Oregon turned to true freshman Ty Thompson to open the second half in place of Brown. Thompson was 6 of 9 for 82 yards with two touchdowns and second-year freshman Jay Butterfield was 2 of 3 for 22 yards during the fourth quarter.
