El Paso Police Department announced it is reviewing an incident captured in a viral social media video showing multiple officers handcuffing a man in Downtown.

"A video is circulating on social media that depicts officers subduing an individual and placing him in handcuffs. The El Paso Police Department is aware of the video and is reviewing the incident. No further information will be available as this incident is being reviewed," the EPPD statement states.

The video shows several officers detaining a man on his stomach while putting pressure on his body to keep him still. One officer had his chest on top of the man to keep him from moving. After the struggle, the cops moved the man in handcuffs from the ground and he appeared to have a seizure.

A video circulating on social media has caused the El Paso Police Department to review an incent involving officers subduing and arresting an individual.

Posts across social media have nicknamed the man placed under arrest as "Shorty." His identity has not been made public.

On Saturday, a GoFundMe was started by El Paso business owner Storm Craig, who witnessed the arrest across the street from his restaurant, Grown Together, on Mills Avenue near the San Jacinto Plaza.

"This is a horrible display of authority, and shorty is now scared to be on the streets because of the police," the business posted on Facebook. "We started this go fund me with the intention of getting him his own place for a year."

As of Saturday afternoon, the GoFundMe page has raised $5,895 with a goal of $6,000.
