Attorney General Tom Miller announces campaign for 2022 reelection
Iowa's Attorney General Tom Miller announced Saturday he will be running for re-election in 2022. The announcement came during the Polk County Democrats' annual steak fry. “It is with humble gratitude and great excitement that I seek another term as Iowa’s attorney general,” Miller said. “My life’s work has been to serve Iowa as ‘the people’s lawyer,’ reading our laws in a fair and accurate manner, and striving to do what is right for every Iowan. I seek another term based on my record of accomplishments serving this state, and because now more than ever, it is critical that the attorney general remains a steadfast independent voice in our government.”Miller was initially elected as Attorney General in 1978, but did spend four years in private practice between 1991 and 1994. The Dubuque native attended Loras College and would go on to receive his law degree from Harvard. The Republican Party of Iowa released a statement that said: “Tom Miller is the most entrenched Democrat in Iowa. Voters are fed up with Democrat politicians being in lock step with their party establishment. Iowa needs an Attorney General that will stand up to the Biden Administration when the federal government oversteps.”
