An email on Sept. 17 from Patrick Norton, senior vice president and chief operating officer, and Dusty Porter, vice president of Student Affairs, revealed extra damage from Hurricane Ida and Tropical Storm Nicholas to Décou-Labat Residences. All four buildings — A, B, C and the townhomes — will not be ready for student living by Sept. 24 as originally communicated. The additional damage from Tropical Storm Nicholas delayed the repair timeline for Décou-Labat.

All Décou-Labat residents will relocate to the Hyatt Regency downtown and are expected to be able to return to their Décou-Labat rooms by Oct. 11. Tulane University has contracted with University Student Services to pack up belongings in all Décou-Labat rooms and relocate them to the Hyatt. USS has packed belongings to prevent any additional damage, and any items that were found to be water-damaged were “professionally washed and packed.” 

Frequent shuttles will run between uptown campus and the Hyatt; however, the university has not yet released an official shuttle schedule. Along with a shuttle schedule, the university plans to communicate more information regarding laundry, parking and mail services.
