OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. -- A 40-year-old man was arrested after Okaloosa County Sheriff's responded to a welfare check near Crestview Thursday.

According to a release, Ricky Lett. had four active felony warrants and was on the scene at the intersection of John King Rd. and Oak Terrace Drive.

While taking Lett into custody, a deputy located a loaded handgun and 40 plastic bags in his backpack.

The release states that when Lett was taken out of the patrol car, a plastic bag was found hidden by his body.

The white substance in the bag had a presumptive positive test for methamphetamine.

Lett's been charged with carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and possession of a controlled substance.
