CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WV News) — All 55 West Virginia counties have high COVID-19 infection rates, with 27 of them being four or more times greater than the red alert status threshold of 25.

The state reported 2,074 new cases in the past 24 hours and a total of 27,525 actives cases. While there were no new deaths reported, the state's reporting system appears to lag on the weekends as there have been no deaths reported on four straight Saturdays despite overall deaths climbing throughout the week.

There are 955 people hospitalized, with 292 in intensive care and 170 on ventilators.

The daily percent positive is 9.75% while the cumulative percent positive is 5.65%.

As Gov. Jim Justice, Dr. Clay Marsh and interagency task force leader Jim Hoyer continue to plead with residents to get the COVID-19 vaccine, the numbers of those vaccinated are climbing slowly.

As of Saturday, about 60.1% of those 12 years of age or older are fully vaccinated, while about 74% have received at least one shot.

When taking in consideration the state's entire population, less than 53% of residents are fully vaccinated, well below any threshold that may lead to herd immunity.
