A man was shot in the face Saturday morning inside a Queens motel, sparking a frantic search for the gunman, police said.
The gunplay happened around 10:15 a.m. in a room at the Surfside 3 Motel on Cross Bay Boulevard in Howard Beach, police and sources said.
The NYPD dispatched police aviation to look for the suspect, who fled from the motel and tossed his gun in waters believed to be nearby Shellbank Basin.
The suspect sped off in a black Nissan northbound on Cross Bay Boulevard in a black Nissan, police sources said. The NYPD’s Harbor Unit was called in to search for the weapon.
The condition of the shooting victim was not immediately known.
Just hours after the bloodshed, it was business as usual at the 66-room motel.
“Everything is OK, everything is fine,” said a woman who answered the phone at the motel’s front desk. She denied there had been any incident, asking only, “Are you looking for a room?”
