Ron-Thorben Hoffman: 8/10

Superb today, no sign of the nerves he shown on his debut. Made a great triple save in the first half, even if the third was after the whistle, then another late on which should have sealed the points.

Carl Winchester: 7/10

Another all-action display at right-back. Was always looking to get forward and help out in attack and was typically comfortable on the ball.

Bailey Wright: 3/10

Relatively solid, bar a complete air kick that he got away with when the Fleetwood attacker slipped, until late on and then was at fault for both goals. Caught pushing out for the first and then stupidly pulled the opponent’s shirt for the penalty.

Callum Doyle: 6/10

Had to dig in more than he has in any other game this season, did not look as comfortable without Tom Flanagan beside him.

Dennis Cirkin: 7/10

Combined well with McGeady on the left flank and snuffed out any threat from Fleetwood’s right.

Luke O’Nien: 7/10

Another industrious display from O’Nien, did a Chiellini impression when pulling back an attacker to stop a dangerous break and was involved in McGeady’s penalty.

Dan Neil: 6/10

Quiet game from Neil today, had a chance to score when Doyle played a great ball over the top but was unable to control it when well placed.

Lynden Gooch: 6/10

Hard-working display and had a shot well saved by the Fleetwood ‘keeper but like Neil, relatively quiet.

Elliot Embleton: 7/10

Set up the opener with a well taken free kick and continued his good link-up play with Stewart.

Aiden McGeady: 7/10

Looking much more like his old self, caused problems whenever he got the ball. Scored a penalty and was so unlucky not to score a second when the Fleetwood goalkeeper made a great fingertip save.

Ross Stewart: 7/10

Scored the opener after running off his man to head home and put in his usual effort up front to create room for his teammates.

Corry Evans: 7/10

Blocked one shot that could have been going in late on and had a shot on target saved. Hopefully, he is now fit as he’s clearly a good player.

Nathan Broadhead: 6/10

Spread the ball nicely a couple of times but difficult to get involved as Sunderland invited the home side on to them.

Frederik Alves: 6/10

Came on very late as Lee Johnson tried to see out the game but was not involved other than one good header out for a corner.

Really impressed with Hoffmann today, deserved a clean sheet but was let down by the most experienced defender in front of him. Composed on the ball and made some important saves.
