Kailer Yamamoto contract

Kailer Yamamoto agreed to a one-year, $1.175 million contract with the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday.

The forward, who will turn 23 on Sept. 29, scored 21 points (eight goals, 13 assists) in 52 regular-season games with the Oilers last season and had one assist in eight Stanley Cup Playoff games.
Selected by Edmonton in the first round (No. 22) of the 2017 NHL Draft, Yamamoto has scored 52 points (20 goals, 32 assists) in 105 regular-season games and has one assist in eight Stanley Cup Playoff games.
The Oilers signed forward Ryan Nugent-Hopkins to an eight-year, $41 million contract ($5.125 average annual value) on June 29. Center Connor McDavid is entering the fourth year of an eight-year, $100 million contract ($10 million AAV) and center Leon Draisaitl is entering the fifth year of an eight-year, $68 million contract ($8.5 million AAV).
"Part of being good in [an NHL salary] cap world is you need younger players, cheaper players, that's a part of the puzzle," Oilers general manager Ken Holland said this offseason. "If that's not part of the equation, then it gets to be much more difficult."
