Merced CHP posted this event on their Facebook page in order to educate drivers on the importance of taking the time to make sure anything you are carrying on or in your vehicle is properly secured.

This will prevent items from falling or even flying onto the roadway which can cause serious damage to others on the road.

If the load you are carrying is heavy enough and begins to shift, it can even cause you to lose control of your vehicle.

Merced CHP adds that it is also up to other drivers to not follow other vehicles too closely to give yourself enough time to react to any sudden danger on the road.
