Now in its fifth generation, the Forester is entering the 2022 model year with a series of updates necessary to keep the model fresh. Subaru gives the SUV a redesigned front fascia, with updated grille, headlights and fog light covers.

But, the most important update to the lineup is the addition of a sixth trim level: the all-new Wilderness. With unique and functional exterior and interior appointments, and an elevated ground clearance, the 2022 Wilderness was described as the "most rugged and trail-capable Forester ever."

What makes the 2022 Subaru Forester Wilderness special?

The 2022 Wilderness was built on the Premium trim level, but includes mechanical and functional updates required for the less traveled roads.

As a result, the 2022 Forester Wilderness sits 9.2 inches above the ground. It rides on exclusive 17-inch alloy wheels in matte black finish, wrapped in Yokohama GEOLANDAR® all-terrain tires.

Being a SUV designed for off-road usage, a few changes to the exterior look were also required. Up front, the Wilderness trim will be distinguished by a bold, hexagonal grille, unique hexagonal LED fog lights and an anti-glare hood decal in matte-black finish. The package also includes larger wheel arch cladding, plus a front skid plate.

The 2022 Subaru Forester Wilderness is priced at $32,820. There's only one package available priced at $1,850. It includes:
