Beaver to blame for wildfires in Oregon

A tree-chomping beaver is to blame for a wildfire in Oregon, authorities suspect.

Firefighters on Thursday responded to a two-acre wildfire in a state park, not far from the Multnomah Falls, according to oregonlive.com.

After putting down the flames, they determined the fire was sparked after a tree fell against power lines — and that the tree was all chewed up at the base, according to the report.

Rick Wunsch, assistant Corbett fire chief, told the website the beaver did not remain on the scene. “He must have got out of there real quick,” he said.

No structures were damaged or threatened by the small wildfire.
