Loveland events: Stone Age Fair, Lebowski Night, Puppy Mill Awareness Day and more

A wide variety of events are set in the Loveland area next week, including the return of the Stone Age Fair, Lebowski Night, the Northern Colorado Childhood Cancer Awareness Walk, Puppy Mill Awareness Day, Poudre Pour, Autumn Gold Festival and more.

Stone Age Fair

The Loveland Stone Age Fair will be held at 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, and 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 26, at the McKee 4-H Building at The Ranch, 5260 Arena Circle, Loveland.

The 87th annual Stone Age Fair will feature Dr. Jason LaBelle from Colorado State University presenting a program on CSU’s recent work at the famous Lindenmeier Folsom Paleo Site, north of Fort Collins.

Dr. Madeline Mackie from Weber State University will present a program on Ice Age mammoth hunters on the High Plains.

Programs start at 1 p.m.

The event also will display Native American artifact collections from around the country with an emphasis on the local High Plains.

There will be an identification table for anyone that would like to bring in Native American artifacts they would like to learn more about.

Lebowski Night

Lebowski Night presented by Head Zeppelin Barbershop will be at 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, at the Rialto Theater Center, 228 E. Fourth St., Loveland.

Join The Dude, Maude, Walter and others for an evening of costumes and prizes, drink specials and food trucks with a live stage contest.

Childhood Cancer Walk

The Northern Colorado Childhood Cancer Awareness Walk will take place Saturday, Sept. 25, at Mehaffey Park, 3285 W. 22nd St., Loveland.

On-site registration starts at 8 a.m. The walk takes place at 9 a.m.-noon.

The walk this year will be in honor of Ben Dixon, a 12-year-old boy who battled Ewing’s Sarcoma and died in July.

The goal of the walk, co-sponsored by Kathleen Sullivan, Loveland Lions Clubs and CureSearch, is to end childhood cancer by driving targeted and innovative research.

Shred Event

The Loveland Public Works Department, Solid Waste Division will offer residents the opportunity to completely shred sensitive, confidential documents at 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, at The Forge campus (previously HP and The Rocky Mountain Center for Innovation), 815 14th St. SW, Loveland, in the northeast parking lot. Enter from the east side off of Barboura Drive.

Wear a mask and have your 2021 Yard Debris Permit ready when you arrive for free shredding. Loveland residents without a yard debris permit and county residents can participate for a $5 charge.

All shredded paper will be recycled.

Residents are asked to limit quantities to three bags or boxes per household.

Puppy Mill Awareness Day

Harley’s Dream will hold a Puppy Mill Awareness Day event at 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 26, at Fickel Park, 620 Mountain Ave., Berthoud.

The event will feature music, food trucks, pet-focused vendors, adoptable dogs, a doggie flea market, Blessing of the Animals, awareness booths, contests and more. Colorado First Gentleman Marlon Reis and Berthoud Mayor Will Karspeck will speak.

Admission is free. Leashed dogs are welcome, and attendees can bring chairs or blankets.

Youth Climate Action

Youth Climate Action Event: Make a Move will be held at 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, at the Environmental Learning Center, 2400 S. County Road 9, Fort Collins.

On National Public Lands Day local youths will gather to train and inspire other youths on five educational areas focused on climate change and how to take action. This event is led, organized and implemented by youths who want to do something about climate change.

Kids in the Park

Kids in the Park will take place at 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 26, at Twin Silo Park, 5500 block of Ziegler Road, Fort Collins.

Families can learn about recreation activities, play in the park, dance to live music, enjoy snacks from local food trucks and fly kites.

Parking is available at Fossil Ridge High School, 5400 Ziegler Road, Fort Collins.

Kids in the Park, formerly Kites in the Park, encourages kids of all ages to get outside and play.

The free event is open to the public.

Critters in Compost

Critters in Our Compost workshops will take place at 10:30-11:30 a.m. Tuesday-Thursday, Sept. 21-23, at the Garbage Garage Education Center, 5887 S. Taft Hill Road, Fort Collins.

The sessions for ages 6-plus focus on how natural materials decay and the decomposers that make that possible, with games and building of compost bins.

Poudre Pour

The Poudre Heritage Alliance will hold the fourth annual Poudre Pour at 2-6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, at Boardwalk Park, 100 N. Fifth St., Windsor.

The educational celebration will highlight the major ingredient that makes craft beer and other beverages tasty — water from the Poudre River — with craft beer, food, live music, kids activities and more.

Proceeds will benefit the Poudre Heritage Alliance, the 501(c)3 managing nonprofit of the Cache la Poudre River National Heritage Area.

General admission tickets are $40, nonalcoholic admission $20 and ages 16 and under are free.

Autumn Gold Festival

The annual Autumn Gold Festival will take place at 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday, Sept 26, at Bond Park in downtown Estes Park.

The event will include a classic car show, along with music, cold beer, soft drinks, hot cider, bratwurst and hot dogs.

Bands will play a variety of music each day. Performers include the The Remus Tucker Band, Wendy Woo Band and Last Men on Earth on Sept. 25, and Michael Morrow and the Culprits and The Long Run (Eagles tribute band) on Sept. 26.
