A Cedar Rapids man was recently given a deferred judgment on Washington County charges.

Court documents show that through a plea agreement 23-year-old John Desmond Clymer was deferred on charges of failure to affix a drug tax stamp, a class D felony, possession of a controlled substance – first offense, and operating while under the influence – first offense, both serious misdemeanors. Clymer must serve five years probation for the felony and one year of probation for the possession charge. Fines totaling $1,455 were suspended though he must pay category B restitution. Other charges were dismissed including hemp inhalation, a serious misdemeanor, and a second count for drug possession. Clymer was arrested last December for an October 12, 2020 traffic stop in Riverside that resulted in finding drug paraphernalia and prescription drugs.
