Two West Ham Stars 'Would Walk Into The Manchester United Team'

Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek have been named as the two West Ham stars who “would walk into the Manchester United team.”

That is according to Trevor Sinclair, who has insisted that none of United’s current crop of holding midfielders would “walk into the West Ham team.”

Rice starred for England at Euro 2020 in the summer after forging a formidable midfield partnership with Leeds star Kalvin Phillips.

The 22-year-old West Ham midfielder has been linked with both United and Chelsea amid uncertainty surrounding his future at the London club.

Soucek is expected to provide West Ham boss David Moyes with a strong midfield option alongside Rice for the Hammers’ clash with United on Sunday.

The Red Devils splashed out in the summer to secure the services of Jadon Sancho, Cristiano Ronaldo and Raphael Varane.

However, United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was reportedly keen to reinforce his midfield options and to add another player before the window shut.

United trio Nemanja Matic, Scott McTominay and Fred have often been criticised while playing in the defensive midfield role.

Now, Sinclair has praised both Rice and Soucek for their individual qualities and how they could walk into the United team ahead of Matic, McTominay and Fred.

The former Hammers player told talkSPORT: “I’ve said it last season, we were talking about this exact fixture, and I said Declan Rice and Soucek would walk into the Manchester United team.

“I don’t think their two or three holding midfielders would walk into the West Ham team.

“I think they are probably as good as you’re going to get in the Premier League at the moment.

“Soucek brings his unique running power, he’s a real boss in both boxes, and Rice with his composure and ability to run the game at the back is absolutely brilliant.

“The shape and the chemistry all over the pitch, everyone looks like they are enjoying playing for Moyes.”

United are currently top of the Premier League table and are level on points with Chelsea, Liverpool and Everton.

Meanwhile, West Ham are eighth in the table after their first four Premier League matches of the season.
