Region 1
Davis 26, Syracuse 20
Ty Hoagland hauled in a 40-yard touchdown pass from Jackson Stevens on the final play of the game as Davis avoided overtime to knock off Syracuse in a great Region 1 game. Davis led 17-3 at the break, but Syracuse scored 17 points in the third quarter to rally quickly and tie the game. Davis running back Dakoda Kempthorne had a workmanlike performance on the ground carrying the ball 29 times for 97 yards and two touchdowns.
“The key was jumping out early and that lit a fire under the boys. We put a full game together on all sides of the ball and I couldn’t be more happy for the boys with the Hail Mary to win it. Jackson bought some time in the pocket and for the ball off, then Ty Hoagland high-pointed the ball in the end zone and on his way down Max Painter decided to pull it out of Ty’s extended arms and went to the ground in his possession. Just a wild finish and I’m just ecstatic for the boys.”

Farmington 27, Layton 20
Easton White connected with Mitch Nielsen on a 20-yard touchdown pass with 19 seconds left in regulation to send the game into overtime, and then Farmington won it in overtime on Boston Reinhold 1-yard touchdown run. Layton led 17-3 after the third quarter, but the Phoenix made an impressive comeback to earn the region win.
Weber 63, Clearfield 27
Cannon DeVries caught two touchdown passes and ran for another as the Warriors offense exploded in a win over the Falcons. Jake Lindsay threw for four scores and ran for another pair as the Weber offense scored at least two touchdowns in every quarter.
Region 2
West 30, Hunter 14
Sesi Vailahi had two touchdowns of over 10 yards in the middle part of the first quarter as the Panther took down Hunter. West would throw a pick-six on their next drive, but their defense didn’t allow any points until they already had a 30-7 lead in the fourth quarter.
Granger 41, Taylorsville 10
Granger rolled over Taylorsville on the road to secure its first victory of the season. The victory also improved the Lancers to 1-1 in region play.
Region 3
Bingham 27, Herriman 10
Four different Miners (Dallen Martinez, Havea Foto, Braxton Gregory, and SaiaLomu) rushed for a touchdown to help lift Bingham to the road victory over Herriman.
“We knew this game would be a grind and I’m proud of the kids for staying the course through some adversity. We take pride in winning the fourth quarter and that’s exactly what we did. I thought both teams played really hard tonight. We’re happy to leave here with a win and start 1-0 in region.”

Mountain Ridge 42, Copper Hills 0
The Sentinels breezed to a lopsided Region 3 win over Copper Hills Friday night. Jordan Day caught two touchdowns and Cade Uluave scored a touchdown on defense and on offense, helping Mountain Ridge remain undefeated for the season.

West Jordan 20, Riverton 14
Boston Farmer found Carter Baldwin from two yards out for the game-winning score. Farmer also had two rushing touchdowns in West Jordan’s win.
“What a game of grit and toughness tonight. Both teams played their guts out. We just made a few more plays down the stretch. Holding a team that’s well coached and as good as Riverton to 14 points says a lot about how our defense is learning and getting better game by game. I am just so proud of how our kids are fighting until the and improving each game. Our fan support was incredible, our stands were packed and rocking during the whole game tonight.”

Region 4
Skyridge 44, Westlake 2
Skyridge’s defense blanked Westlake, with the Thunder’s only two points coming on a safety. McCae Hillstead had three touchdown passes and ran for three more scores.
Corner Canyon 51, American Fork 22
Corner Canyon started slow, with no points in the first quarter, but poured on 51 points to hand American Fork its first loss. Devin Brown scored four touchdowns for the Chargers.
Lone Peak 52, Pleasant Grove 7
Lone Peak scored five touchdown in the first period, including two pick-sixes from Mason Patane. The Knights would extend their lead to 52 points before the Vikings finally found the end zone with under one minute remaining.

Region 5
Bountiful 20, Bonneville 14
Corbin Cottle’s 1-yard run in the fourth quarter was the difference maker in Bountiful’s win over Bonneville. Max Barker connected with Teagan Dougher for two touchdown passes in the first half for the Redhawks.
Box Elder 42, Viewmont 21
Daxton Sumko carried the ball 14 times for 85 yards and two touchdowns and then Box Elder quarterback Cooper Stevenson passed for two touchdowns and rushed for two more as Box Elder jumped out to a 21-0 lead on Viewmont never looked back in the convincing Region 5 victory.
“I am so happy for our players because of their effort. We played team football tonight. Our defense got some big stops early and our offense was able drive the ball and finish with touchdowns. Our kicking game put us in good field position which really helped us especially after some of their big plays.”

Northridge 19, Woods Cross 14
Northridge mounted a comeback, scoring 12 points in five minutes to beat Woods Cross. AJ Tillman scored a rushing touchdown and then Maximus Fonoti-Maikui hit Zach Smith — their second TD of the night — for the game-winning score.
“Our team showed a lot of mental toughness coming back and getting the win against a very tough, physical, well-coached Woods Cross team. Defense came up huge for us with some big stops. Very proud of our student-athletes.”

Region 6
Brighton 14, Skyline 7
The Bengals dominated the first half, jumping out to a 14-0 lead behind touchdown runs from Mitchell Dolato and Kace Gurr. The Eagles would score on a fumble recovery in the end zone early in the third quarter, but that was their only points of the game. Brighton’s defense wouldn’t allow a single point as they picked up a narrow victory in Region 6 play.
“I thought the boys battled through some adversity. We had various guys out but had many kids step up. Our defense led the way and did a good job of creating pressure against a well-coached Skyline team.”

East 38, Olympus 14
Amini Amone rushed for two touchdowns while Tuione Tausinga hauled in a pair of receiving touchdowns from Siona Vailahi as East earned its first win of the season with an emphatic showing against visiting region foe Olympus. The Titans scored a touchdown just before halftime to cut the deficit to 18-14, but the second half was all East as it held the visitors scoreless.
Park City 41, Highland 6
Park City picked up a big win over Highland Friday night to improve its Region 6 record to 3-0. Miles Preston came away with the highlight of the night for the Miners, taking an interception 78 yards to the house.

Region 7
Stansbury 29, Tooele 14
After a scoreless first half, the Stallions rallied for a 22-point third quarter to take the lead and secure the win against Tooele. Ezra Harris rushed for two touchdowns and connected with Dylan Hamilton for another in the home victory.
“Stansbury really embraced the underdog role and showed a tremendous amount of grit in a great comeback win vs our cross town rivals.”

Uintah 28, Payson 20
Uintah’s 21-point second quarter was good enough to hold off Payson. Carson Coltharp caught two touchdowns for the Utes, while Jace Evans rushed for a pair of scores as Uintah built a 28-6 halftime lead. Payson cut the lead to 28-20 with 10:40 remaining in the game, but Uintah’s defense buckled down the rest of the way.

Cedar Valley 36, Timpanogos 35
Cedar Valley’s gamble in the final minute paid off as its successful two point conversion pass from Easton Schank to Taygan Hansen with 36 seconds left helped hand Timpanogos its first loss of the season in a great Region 7 game. Timapnogos took a 28-14 lead midway through the third quarter, but led by three Easton Schank rushing touchdowns in the second half the Aviators rallied to pull off the great win. Matu Holdaway threw four touchdowns in the loss for the T-Wolves.

Mountain View 49, Hillcrest 7
The Bruin offense rallied for a 28-0 run in the third quarter to take a demanding lead en route to the victory over Hillcrest. Quarterback Jackson McCarty rushed for a score and tossed in four more, two of which went to Jaemon Hill, in the Mountain View win at home.
Region 8
Orem 42, Jordan 7
Orem scored 35 of its 42 points in the first half en route to a blowout win against Jordan. Mack Hixson scored three touchdowns for the Tigers.

Timpview 62, Alta 21
After being tied at 14 after the first period, the Timpview offense went off for 41 points in the middle quarters, giving them a big road win over the Hawks. Zed Ambrosio caught Liu Aumavae’s third and fourth touchdown passes to help extend the lead into a comfortable territory.
Region 9
Spanish Fork 28, Salem Hills 0
Auston Stevenson rushed for a score, Tayson Reid ran for two more, and Darian Harrison added an 85-yard interception return as the Dons shut out Salem Hills in region play.
“We got off to a slow start, but our defense really played tough while we settled in offensively. We were able to get going on both sides in the second half. It’s always a fun, competitive game when we play Salem. A lot of friendships and history between the two communities.”

Springville 34, Provo 14
The strong defense of Springville kept Jace Welsch and the Provo offense at bay, helping the the squad pick up its first region win of the season. Ryder Burton tossed three touchdowns for the Red Devils.
Wasatch 54, Maple Mountain 16
Christopher Cook scored four rushing touchdowns as Wasatch beat Maple Mountain soundly. Wasatch led 21-9 at the half, but broke the game open with a dominant 27-0 edge in the third quarter.
Region 10
Pine View 62, Cedar City 29
Pine View picked up its second region win of the season with a impressive 62-point performance Friday night. Keith Adams ran wild for the Panthers with touchdown runs from one, 45, 50 and 67 yards out.
Snow Canyon 35, Hurricane 13
Hunter Johnson and Alex Stubbs battled on the ground in a Region 10 battle. Both players scored two touchdowns, but in the end it was Johnson’s Warriors that would escape with a road victory. Will Warner, Devin Jensen, and Jordan Wade also found the end zone for Snow Canyon.
“I thought our O-line played well tonight. Gave us good time to pass the ball and created some good running lanes. We had too many mistakes. Need to clean things up that are under our control. We look forward to prepare for a good Desert Hills team.”

Desert Hills 40, Dixie 24
The Thunder’s late surge helped turn a touchdown lead into a 16-point win. The first 4th quarter touchdown came on Tyden Morris’ second score of the game. Izzy Meredith returned an interception 34 yards for a touchdown to put the game out of reach with just over four minutes to go.
“This was big win for our program. Dixie is a well coached talented team, our kids really came out at halftime and answered the challenge.”

Region 11
Logan 46, Bear River 42
Logan came out on top in a high-scoring Region 11 showdown that saw 39 combined points scored in the second quarter. Jaelin Hoth came in clutch for the Grizzlies, scoring all three of Logan’s second half touchdowns, highlighted by a 95-yard kick return touchdown in the 4th quarter and the game-winning 1-yard rushing touchdown with 36 seconds remaining in the game.
“What a game. Bear River came out to play ball tonight. We did not play our best defensive game, but special teams was awesome. Jaelin Hoth and Josh Thomsen both had touchdowns on kickoffs. We blocked a punt to set up another score. Offensively, we knew we had to score on every possession. We did just enough. I’m really proud of these boys.”

Ridgeline 35, Sky View 10
The Ridgeline offense was led by quarterback Kaden Cox, who tossed in three touchdown and rushed for another two in the Region 11 win against Sky View.
Green Canyon 21, Mountain Crest 14
Jack Stevens tossed in three touchdowns — one each to Benjamin Elston, Will Egan, and Cole Fife — as the Wolves picked up a narrow road home win against Mountain Crest.
3A North
Grantsville 41, Ben Lomond 7
The Cowboys secured a commanding result in their 3A North opener, holding Ben Lomond to only a lone, garbage time touchdown late in the fourth quarter. Caleb Sullivan threw two touchdowns and rushed for another, helping Grantsville improve to 4-2 on the season.

Morgan 41, Juan Diego 28
Trailing 28-16 at the half, Morgan dominated visiting Juan Diego in the second half in rolling to the big region victory with a 25-0 edge in the second half. Will Lance led the way in the second half with a pair of rushing touchdowns as he finished the game with 65 yards on eight carries. Dallas Larsen helped Juan Diego jump out to the early lead with a pair of first-half rushing TDs, but Morgan bottled up the entire Juan Diego offense in the second half.
“Tonight was a great game. Juan Diego is a quality team that plays great football. They came out fast and got up early and made great plays. Our team battled and kept within striking distance. We were confident that if we could shut them out the second half that we could battle back and win. Our coaches made some great adjustments, athletes executed, and we earned a hard fought victory. Proud of how the team battled for four quarters.”

Union 37, Ogden 20
Union was able to outscore Ogden 27-7 in the middle quarters, leading them to a big win at home. Boone Lathem had three touchdown passes in the win, two of which were on throw’s over 20 yards.
“The offense clicked in the first half and we were rolling. Defense had a lot of turnovers and a special teams touchdown. Overall a great team effort.”

3A South
Richfield 15, North Sanpete 14
Gavin Anderson buried the game-winning 29-yard field goal with under a minute remaining the game to give Richfield the win over the Hawks. The field goal by Anderson was the only second half points for the Wildcats, who led by 12 at the end of the first half.
“We scratched out a win against North Sanpete, a solid football program, with some big plays by our special teams, defense and solid play from our sophomore QB Reggie Hafen in his third varsity start. Very proud of our team.”

Manti 43, Carbon 21
Manti picked up their second win of the season and first region win with a 22-point victory over the Dinos. Alex Cox and Keegan Strickland each found the end zone twice for the Templars.
Juab 41, Canyon View 14
Juab rolled over Canyon View to secure a win in its 3A South opener. Chase Ingram set the tone early for the Wasps with touchdown runs of 79 and 66 yards in the first quarter.

Beaver 28, Delta 13
Beaver outscored Delta 14-0 in the first quarter to secure its sixth win of the season and remain undefeated. Four different players scored a rushing touchdown for the Beavers, Statler Wright, Ayden Bradshaw, Briston Jessup and Gage Edwards.
“We had a great team effort tonight. Four different players scored and our defense had a huge goal line stop in the four quarter. Always a really tough game with Delta.”

San Juan 56, South Sevier 3
San Juan scored a pair of touchdowns in all four quarters as it rolled past South Sevier to improve to 5-1 on the season. Keaton Ivins hauled in pair of touchdowns from Jace Palmer, who also rushed for two scores. Jersey Nieves added a defensive touchdown as well for the Broncos.

Millard 46, Grand 7
The Millard defense allowed just one scoring play from the Red Devils as the Eagles secured the win at home. For the offense, James Stephenson passed in three touchdowns — two of which went to Mekhi Davis — and ran in another to lead his team to the victory.
“The team really came together tonight. We have been plagued with injuries and the kids really stepped up and worked together to get the win. They responded really well after Grand got an early touchdown and played a complete game.”

South Summit 42, Emery 27
South Summit took its first lead of the game with just over four minutes remaining in the third quarter, part of 30-0 scoring run for the Wildcats. Quarterback Kyler Sudweeks tossed three touchdowns and added another with his legs as South Summit secured the 2A North victory.
Providence Hall 62, Judge Memorial 0
Michael Scott threw four touchdown passes to four different Patriot wide receivers while Jacob Walsh ran for four touchdowns as Providence Hall dominated their way to a shutout victory. Their other touchdown came from Jack Hansen, who had a pick-six late in the final period as a statement for the Patriots defensive performance.
“I am so proud of how our team took advantage of an opportunity to improve. They didn’t focus on the opponent, the score, or anything other factors besides becoming the best team they can be. I am proud of our coaches for mid-game adjustments that were made. I can’t say enough about our senior leaders Mike Scott and Jake Walsh. I love those guys and they deserved the success they had tonight.”

Summit Academy 48, American Leadership 0
Summit Academy shutout American Leadership Academy behind a great defensive performance. The offense used a balanced attack as eight different players scored throughout the night.
“Our defense had its best game of the season forcing five turnovers and allowing only a handful of first downs all night. Four different Bears scored touchdowns. Quarterback Devin Watson had four touchdown passes and kicker Kyson Andolsek kicked two field goals, including a 44-yarder. I’m really proud of their effort and energy tonight.”

Layton Christian 54, Rich 0
Manu Vaitaki and Jessaia Moala each rushed for two touchdowns and then Zoram Petelo passed for two scores as Layton Christian rolled past Rich for the Friday afternoon region victory. The Eagles jumped out to a 19-0 lead by halftime and never looked back.
“It was nice to secure a homecoming victory for our team and fans. The work has just begun as we head into region play. We need to build off of this momentum.”

Duchesne 55, Monticello 6
Duchesne exploded for 48 first half points to secure a win in its 1A north opener. Quarterback Parker Crum recorded four total touchdowns (all in the first half) for the Eagles.
“We were able to make the long drive to Monticello and come away with a nice win. The ball was spread out between multiple people and each had success moving the ball. Give our line credit. Braden Porter, Jimmy Diaz, Branon Torgerson, Weston Mullins, Bryant Mullins and Ethan Park opened up space for us all night long.”

Parowan 32, Gunnison Valley 20
Parowan went on the road and picked up a win over the Bulldogs. They led by six after three quarters and were able to double that into a dozen point victory over the course of the final 12 minutes.
Milford 18, North Sevier 15
Milford’s Dylan Ferguson nailed a 38-yard field goal on the last play of the game to give the Tigers a narrow victory over North Sevier in their 1A South opener. Milford, who trailed by eight points at halftime, outscored the Wolves 11-0 in the second half.
“My kids didn’t panic when we got down 15. I’m glad that we have kicked a few field goals this year so we were ready when the time came. Fergie stepped up and was clutch for us.”

Kanab 14, Enterprise 7
Kanab secured the victory over Enterprise in what was a defensive region opener. Nate Stewart scored both of Kanab’s touchdowns, the last of which was the game-winning score from four yards out with just under 10 minutes left in the game.
“Enterprise played tough and possessed the ball for much of the game. Proud of our team for over coming some adversity and getting a win. Great defensive effort by Kason Janes and Noah McCorvey. Collin Szymanski lead the way up front for us offensively.”

Nonregion
Crimson Cliffs 20, Cyprus 6
Gunner Orr threw a touchdown pass (to Kona Crowell) and ran for a score. Ryan Wooley also had a rushing touchdown as Crimson Cliffs won.
“This was a big win for us as a program. We were able to establish our run game early and rely on our defense to hold on to the lead. Our defense continues to play solid. Players like Jackson Griffiths, Fasito’otai Salanoa-Sagapoly, Corbin Cuff and Isaac Golder lead the defense and the team in accomplishing our goals. Gunner Orr has stepped in and stepped up at the QB position to allow us to sustain drives and put points on the board. We are looking forward to Hurricane this next week.”

Lehi 31, Fremont 17
Kadiyon Sweat had an interception return for a touchdowns and also caught a touchdown pass as Lehi used a strong first half to knock off Fremont for the impressive nonregion win. Jackson Brousseau tossed a pair of TDs for the Pioneers in the win.
“Isaac Terrell set the tone for our defense with his great pass rush. That led to Kadiyon Sweat coming up with a couple of turnovers and catching a TD pass. I was proud of how our team responded to last weeks loss.”

Murray 28, Cottonwood 19
After Cottonwood pulled within two points with just over a minute remaining in the game, Murray’s Lance Wightman broke off a 65-yard touchdown run a few plays later to put the game on ice. The crucial win was the third of the season for the Spartans, who hadn’t secured a victory in nearly a month.
“It was a good win for us even though we struggled at times. I’m proud of our defense we had seven takeaways and our backup QB had his first start and came up with the win.and our running back played outstanding. Very proud to coach these kids.”
