Blue Demons Complete Redbird Invite

NORMAL, Ill. - DePaul cross country competed in Normal, Ill. on Friday at the Redbird Invite. In a field that featured more than ten teams on each the men's and women's sides, DePaul posted top-15 individual finishes in both races. DePaul was able to claim a fourth-place finish among 12 squads on the men's side of the action.

Dominic Bruce led the way for the Blue Demons for the third-consecutive race. Bruce posted another seventh-place finish after posting the same in the season-opener. Bruce logged a time of 24:42.8 to lead DePaul in the men's 8K.

Behind Bruce, DePaul's Shane Knanishu (10th place, 24:48.4) and Gavin Glaza (25th, 25:27.0) rounded out the Blue Demon crop of top-25 finishers. As a team, DePaul finished behind Illinois, Southern Indiana and Loyola. 

For the DePaul women, Olivia Borowiak led the way once again. After finishing eighth to lead DePaul at the Badger Classic, Borowiak logged a 13th-place finish with a time of 21:13.3 in the 6K. Borowiak leads the Blue Demons this season after logging a 15th-place finish at last year's BIG EAST Championships, the best finish ever for a DePaul athlete at the BIG EAST meet.

Finishing behind Borowiak, Nina Amicon posted a top-40 finish for DePaul. Amicon ran a 22:00.1 to finish 35th. 

UP NEXT
On Saturday, Oct. 2, the Blue Demons head to the Live in Lou Cross Country Classic in Louisville, K.Y. The meet in Kentucky will be followed by the Bradley Pink Classic, the final regular season race of the 2021 season.
