More than 2,000 people are without power in Roanoke Friday night.

According to Appalachian Power's outage map, a total of three outages are affecting customers in west Roanoke.

The combined outages affect 2,303 customers and began just before 9 p.m., according to Appalachian Power.

A spokesperson for Appalachian Power said the outages appear to be caused by an equipment problem at a substation.

Power should be restored by midnight if there are no other issues, according to the spokesperson.
