Pedestrian killed after being struck by a vehicle in Vallejo

A female pedestrian was killed early Thursday after being struck by a car in Vallejo.

Her name was unavailable at press time.

Just before 4 a.m. a red 2014 Nissan Versa driven by Paul Cruel of Novato was headed east on Highway 37, west of Mare Island, when it struck the unidentified woman, California Highway Patrol officials said.

She was pronounced dead at the scene by Medic Ambulance personnel.

Cruel was uninjured.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
