Tomlin (neck) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Gwinnett on Friday.
Tomlin has been on the injured list with a neck strain since Aug. 31. Given the length of his absence, the club will likely want him to get two or three outings in with Gwinnett before he rejoins the major-league roster. With that in mind, he could be activated toward the end of next week.
