About the Album
From the Book of Ragas vol. 2, composed by Indian-born jazz pianist Charu Suri, this track which translates into "Today There is Color," combines three traditions rooted in the art of improvisation. Scored for piano, Sufi vocals and vibraphone, the piece which has beautiful lyrics by the Persian poet, Amir Khusro, is all about finding joy. Suri's piano playing imitates the classical Indian "sitar drone" and the Sufi singing by Falsa soars above it all.
