LIVE Transfer Talk: Man Utd eye Declan Rice as perfect partner for Paul Pogba

The summer transfer window is closed for the top leagues in Europe! After a summer full of international football, countless clubs waited until the last minute to pull off their transfers. See all the major deals here and check out how we graded the biggest signings. But just because the window is shut until January, that doesn't mean the rumours won't keep coming.

TOP STORY: Man United eye Rice as Pogba's partner

Manchester United will prioritise a move for West Ham United star Declan Rice next summer, according to The Independent.

The Hammers star is considered as the missing piece in the puzzle for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side, and the perfect partner for Paul Pogba in midfield.

The Red Devils held a genuine interest in the 22-year-old over the summer, but after signing Raphael Varane, Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo, the club were unable to meet the London side's £100 million transfer valuation.

With talks stalling over a new contract for the defensive midfielder at the London Stadium, Rice may seek a new challenge. However, it also remains to seen whether Pogba will remain at United, as agent Mino Raiola has that the France playmarker could move back to Juventus and he is into the last year of his contract.

21.33 BST: AC Milan head a queue that contains "half of Europe" keeping a close eye on 20-year-old Club Brugge attacker Charles De Ketelaere, Calciomercato reports. The Blauw-Zwart reportedly rejected a €25m offer for the once-capped Belgium international last summer, so any interested clubs will need to offer a transfer fee of at least that amount to tempt the defending Belgian champions into sanctioning the departure of their starlet.

19.00 BST: Real Madrid remain confident of signing Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe on a free transfer next summer, but according to El Chiringuito, Los Blancos will not speak of the 22-year-old France international and World Cup winner in an effort to maintain focus on what is sure to be a hotly contested LaLiga campaign with rivals Atletico Madrid.

17.35 BST: Marca reports that Barcelona are hopeful of agreeing a new contract with Ansu Fati in the coming weeks.

Ansu hasn't played since last November, forced to have three operations on his knee, but is expected to return to action later this month.

He has a contract with Barcelona until the end of the season, and while the Camp Nou club insist they have the option to unilaterally extend it by two years, the player's agent, Jorge Mendes, says that is not the case because he signed it as a youth player.

That has led to a number of clubs showing interest, with Manchester City reportedly making a late bid as the transfer window closed.

Barca want to end all speculation by giving the player a new long-term deal. They have already given him Lionel Messi's old No. 10 shirt.

16.29 BST: More on super agent Mino Raiola and his interview with Rai Sport. He says that Juventus will regret not making a bigger play for goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma this summer.

Donnarumma, 22, quit AC Milan on a free transfer at the end of last season, and eventually opted to sign for Paris Saint-Germain. But Raiola believes he could have stayed in Italy had the Old Lady really made an effort to sign him.

And while Keylor Navas has started the season as PSG's No. 1, Raiola insists it's just a matter of time before Donnarumma takes over between the sticks.

"I think Juventus still have regrets about not signing him, and not just Juventus," Raiola said. "There is no fight between Gigio and Navas at PSG, Gigio will play, that's clear."

15.26 BST: L'Equipe has revealed the stunning numbers behind Lionel Messi's bumper contract following his move from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain

The report says that Messi will take home €110m if he sees out all three years of his contract at the Ligue 1 club.

He is due to earn €30m-a-season, with €1m of that paid in the club's cryptocurrency (we're not sure what that means either). But if he's still there in 2022-23, and the extra year in his contract is activated for 2023-34, he will get an additional €10m loyalty bonus for each of those two seasons.

Think €30m-a-season is a lot? Well, can we just shock you? Barca were paying him €61m-a-season.....

14.36 BST: Super agent Mino Raiola has given an interview to Rai Sport. He's revealed that AC Milan captain Alessio Romagnoli could be a target for Juventus, with the centre-back out of contract at the end of the season.

And while the 26-year-old could be an incoming player for Juve, Raiola says that Matthijs de Ligt could be on his way out. De Ligt, 22, joined Juve from Ajax in a €75m deal two years ago and has a deal that expires in 2024.

"He [Romagnoli] and De Ligt are among the best defenders in Europe. De Ligt has a contract, while Romagnoli's deal expires next year," Raiola said.

"I think they could play together at Juventus next season, but pay attention because De Ligt could leave Juve at the end of the season. That's how the market works, there are many clubs interested in signing him."

13.28 BST: Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has said there is "nothing to say" on winger Mohamed Salah's future at Anfield, as contract negotiations over a new deal at the club continue to rumble on.

The Egypt international's deal runs until the summer of 2023, and Klopp confirmed last month that the club had begun discussions with him over an extension.

"There's nothing to say, especially from me, I am not involved," Klopp said. "Obviously I am interested in how sharp he looks. He's spot on. Really good. Nothing else to say."

12.35 BST: West Ham boss David Moyes has revealed that the Hammers never got close to signing Jesse Lingard on a permanent basis in the summer. The Hammers revitalised the midfielder in a loan spell in the second half of last season, leading to him being recalled to the England squad.

The 28-year-old scored nine goals in 16 matches, but Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wanted him back at Old Trafford.

"Ole made it quite clear to me early in the transfer window that he wanted to keep him," Moyes said. "So I knew pretty early that he would be staying at Manchester United.

"I was hearing all the stuff but I had a private conversation with Ole who made it clear he was staying."

Lingard returns to the London Stadium on Sunday when West Ham host the Red Devils in the Premier League.

11.32 BST: Alexandre Lacazette has no contract offer to consider from Arsenal despite entering the final year of his existing contract, sources have told ESPN's James Olley.

The 30-year-old has made just two substitute appearances this season -- scoring once in last month's Carabao Cup second round win at West Brom -- after contracting COVID-19 just before the campaign began.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta originally said in April that Lacazette's future would be resolved this summer but sources have indicated that no discussions are active with Arsenal choosing instead to focus their financial resources on other areas of the team.

10.47 BST: Atletico Madrid are tracking 18-year-old forward Matias Arezo with a view to signing the youngster in 2022, according to the Uruguayan newspaper Ovacion.

Arezo has scored 12 goals in 16 games for River Plate Montevideo this season, and was already being linked with a move to Atletico last year after an impressive campaign. Ovacion reports that the LaLiga club could bring Arezo in during the January transfer window before sending him out on loan for the second half of 2021-22.

Atletico have a track record of looking to snap up top young South American talent, going back to the arrival of Sergio Aguero in 2006.

10.00 BST: Sport in Spain reports that Barcelona could make Raheem Sterling their No. 1 transfer target in January. Sterling, who was named in the Team of the Tournament at Euro 2020, has started only one game for Manchester City this season -- the 1-0 loss at Tottenham on the opening weekend.

The report says that Sterling, 26, is being targeted as a loan signing, and they believe he could add real spark into their forward line.

Sterling struggled to get into the City team towards the end of last season and was linked with a move away before his stellar performances for England over the summer.

PAPER GOSSIP

It remains to be seen where Navas will land next.
