The Los Angeles Clippers had two chances to draft Michael Porter Jr. in 2018, but they passed on him twice as he ended up with the Denver Nuggets with the No. 14 pick. MPJ, however, wouldn't want it any other way.

During his recent appearance on JJ Redick's “The Old Man and The Three” podcast, Porter discussed what it would have been liked had he been drafted by the Clippers. LA had the no. 12 and 13 picks at the time, but they chose Miles Bridges (later traded to the Charlotte Hornets) and Jerome Robinson instead amid concerns about MPJ's back issues.

However, Porter has no issue falling to the Nuggets in the draft. In fact, he's thankful he ended up in Denver instead of LA since it gave him a chance to really focus on his rehab during his first year with the team. With the Clippers and the demand of playing in Hollywood, he knows it would have been brutal.

“With the Clippers, to be honest with you, it might have a God thing because who knows [what would’ve happened in Los Angeles]? You know how crazy L.A. is,” Porter said, via Basketball News. “Living in L.A. as a rookie who’s strictly doing rehab without even playing? I might’ve got into some stuff. So, I’m where I’m supposed to be.”

Michael Porter Jr. certainly makes a great point. Dropping to 14th and being selected by the Nuggets do appear to be a blessing in disguise now, especially since he was able to take his time to really recover and get back to his old self.

For what it's worth, Porter has no ill feelings to the Clippers and the teams that passed on him during the draft. He admitted he was scared by his injury and future as well, and he acknowledged he is still on his way to getting back to the level that once made him Top-5 NBA prospect.

One thing is certain for Michael, though: he's ready to show the Nuggets they made the greatest decision to draft him.
