Some big news has come about for both the 2022 and 2023 Texas football recruiting classes ahead of the final game of the non-conference schedule for the regular season. Texas is set to get some big visitors on campus this weekend as new head coach Steve Sarkisian and his squad take on the Rice Owls out of the Conference-USA at home on the night of Sep. 18.

Sark and the Longhorns mainly need to focus on getting a big bounce back performance this weekend following a bad and humbling loss at the hands of head coach Sam Pittman and the Arkansas Razorbacks on the road on Sep. 11. Texas fell short to Arkansas last weekend in Fayetteville by the final score of 40-21.

Yet, this meeting with Rice on Sep. 18 at DKR is a chance for the Longhorns to right the ship at a good time. Texas actually couldn’t really get Rice at a better time. This team can right the ship one week ahead of the start of Big 12 play, which kicks off against the Texas Tech Red Raiders at home on Sep. 25.

What is also significant about this weekend, beyond the fact that Sark and the Longhorns need to bounce back in a big way, is all of the key incoming visitors that are big-time targets of the 2022 and 2023 recruiting classes. Texas will host a handful of elite targets for the next two recruiting classes at a time when the atmosphere could be rocking under the lights at DKR.

With that in mind, here’s a look into three of the most important weekends visitors for the Longhorns in Austin for the Rice game.
