BFHD announces an additional 34 local deaths from COVID due to backlog

TRI-CITIES -- The Benton-Franklin Health District announced 34 deaths from coronavirus in the Tri-Cities area due to a backlog of cases from the Department of Health.

This recent report states that there were 12 recent deaths due to COVID in the Tri-Cities area. However, an additional 22 deaths were announced from the region due to a backlog within the Department of Health between the dates of July 6 and September 5.
This brings the total number of coronavirus deaths in the area to 436.
The health district announced 130 new cases of coronavirus today in the Tri-Cities. 85 new cases of COVID were in Benton County. 45 new cases of COVID were in Franklin County.

There are currently 110 patients with coronavirus in area hospitals.
