PORTLAND, Ore. – A convicted rapist was sentenced to 30 years in prison on Thursday after he was found guilty of abusing an underage girl for nearly eight years.
A Multnomah County jury found 41-year-old Jose Moo-Caamal guilty of multiple counts of rape, sodomy, and sexual abuse charges.
Investigators say the 14-year-old survivor first told family members about the abuse in August of 2019, telling authorities that the abuse initially started when she was six years old.
“At sentencing, the victim and her mother told the court about the extensive negative impacts of Mr. Moo-Caamal’s crimes,” the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office said. “The Honorable Judge Benjamin Souede directly addressed the victim and commended her for the bravery, courage and strength she showed during her trial testimony and again at sentencing.”
Moo-Caamal was sentenced to 30 years in prison.
