Two families are suing Gov. Bill Lee, Williamson County, and the Franklin Special School District over the governor's mask opt-out order, court records show.
According to court documents, two Williamson County families have filed a federal complaint which states Gov. Lee's executive order is a violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
Lee's order allows parents to opt their kids out of wearing mandated masks in school.
The complaint says the opt-out order puts children with special needs who can't wear masks at risk, because children who can wear them, are allowed to opt out.
This is a developing story.
