Fantasy Island Season 1 Goes Out With a Hell (or Heaven) of a Bang in Finale
Fox‘s summer-long stay on Fantasy Island is coming to an end, and its final guest isn’t ready to say goodbye just yet.
Leslie Jordan (Call Me Kat) guest stars in Sunday’s season finale (8/7c) as Jasper, a con artist consumed by the uncertainty of whether he’ll go to heaven or hell when he dies. And as you’ll see in TVLine’s exclusive sneak peek of the episode, he’s got his work cut out for him.
Of course, Jasper isn’t the only one whose future remains uncertain, as Fox has yet to officially renew Fantasy Island for a second season.
“We’re really high on it and it’s been exciting for us to cross pollinate some of the stars that we have in other series and do other exciting turns on Fantasy Island,” Fox Entertainment President Michael Thorn told TVLine’s sister site Deadline earlier this month. “We definitely see a potential second season, and it’s something that we’re talking about now. We’re very pleased with the show, and Liz [Craft] and Sarah [Fain] did a very good job.”

I tried to watch this show but I can’t get over the fact that the sound is all off. I have to turn the volume up and hear what everyone is saying but any music is loud. I also haven’t been that impressed with the show as much as I wanted to love it.
This is one summer series I’d be OK with getting cancelled.
You don’t know a good show and talent when u see it. This show is “Awesome” and so are the Characters. I’m looking forward to many more Season’s of the New FANTASY Island!!!!

Just because all people don’t want to watch romance novel driven shows which in this case pales in comparison to the original doesn’t mean someone “don’t know a good show and talent when u see it”.
Sorry but you can watch it if you want if it makes it to a season 2. Not saying it should be canceled if there’s enough people who liked it. (Ratings aren’t very good though for it’s first season.)
But in my book, it’s strictly a not for men, woman’s romance novel version of Fantasy Island with poor casting (both full cast and guest stars) and writing. And I watch tons of TV. Some I like some I don’t. But by your book if someone disagrees with your love of it they just “don’t know a good show and talent when u see it”. Time will tell but for a show to make it nowadays, it’s got to #1 be making it’s creators and networks loads of advertising dollars and #2 be popular with a large or certain demographic of people. And finally not be getting beat down by it’s competition on other channels on at the same time. Also sometimes leadership of networks prefer certain themes of shows be placed together. If a show doesn’t fit that lineup and isn’t great at the other listed categories it can also be iced.
Not all shows viewers consider good make it to another season and not all bad shows get canceled.

I had to research to see what happened because I’ve been waiting on a new episode. I love the female perspective of the show. I could see a Tattoo character introduced & a comedic addition. I like it Fox maybe another time slot. I’m so tired of reality TV that anything scripted is needed.
The sound being off may be your tv. I had an issue last year and when I googled it I found how to fix it. I thought it was really odd because it was just one show that I watched but the fix worked.
When I tell someone that I do not like a tv show,you know what they tell me?DON’T watch it! You may want to check your tv set,I watch it on hulu.
Did you ever think it’s your TV causing the problem? I watched all the episodes and never had the problem your having. This was a fun and different show. So looking forward to the next season!
I have enjoyed the show and hope they renew it. It’s been fun to see some spots of Puerto Rico that I recognize like el Yunque.

I wish Kiara Barnes would stop playing her character Ruby as if she was still 80 years old. I mean the way she speaks and moves is like an old person impression. I assume this is a creative decision and imaginative exercise – no one obviously knows what a person who has lived a lifetime would sound and move like if their body was suddenly de-aged but the performance drives me batty.
Ruby is 80 years old but she grew old she isnt going to be walking around like Naomi Campbell on a runway lol I think the awkwardness of it lends it self well to the realism of the potrayal lol.
Ruby is supposed to feel off and out of place now.
Why wouldn’t Ruby be walking around like a supermodel when her body is young again? And why does young Ruby still talk with that old person voice? The reason your voice changes as you age is that the body changes – the vocal cords lose flexibility and dries out, the larynx atrophy, etc and it isn’t because she learned to speak “old” as she aged. She may still have the memories and wisdom of the lifetime she lived but that’s no reason why she’s still shuffling around like she needs a walker or speaks with a croak.
Because she’s not used to being young again and she has said a few times she liked being 75

Its getting ridiculous. Now every show has to have mostly non-Caucasian cast with mostly homosexual relationships because it’s the latest trendy thing. Why does almost every relationship now have to be lesbians or gays? They are a minority of society. They should certainly be represented as commonly as they are in society. It’s a personal choice that is acceptable by only a minority of this society and should therefore be represented on TV and film in the same manner. And calling people names just because you made your choice a different way shows how bad of a person you are. You don’t have to be homophobic to just want the norm of Heterosexual relationships to be represented as the majority it is in society.

I like this show. I hope its renewed. But, after the cancelation of Prodigal Son, I’m not getting my hopes up.

Prodigal Son creeped me out. If it had of given us deeper insight into the other characters like Fantasy Island then it might have liked it more. The villain ( Dr. Dad) was a great talent but his blonde sister was out of place. I believe she was just thrown in to please the majority. She wasn’t needed & I never thought she was smart. Ruby smart🤓
I’ve had mixed feeling about the show. I like the cast generally speaking but the writing had been largely pretty bland. They should go back to the 2 fantasy storylines and drop the boring Rourke backstory. I would like to see it evolve into a second season.

The original was so much better – it seems that every new show has to have a LGBQ storyline, but TWO of them? I totally lost interest after the last episode.

I feel the exact same way. I was really looking forward to this renewal & once again found a new show worried more about being politically correct instead of writing good stories. So disappointed!

For me, the show is just ok. I think it would have been better if they left Ruby as an older woman instead of having the younger woman act old. Just doesn’t work.

I loved the original Fantasy Island & this one is great too! It is refreshing! This is only the first season & I think the show will get even better with seasons to come. I’m looking forward to season 2!

1) I would like it to be renewed WITHOUT younger Ruby.
2) Fantasy Island is a favorite from my childhood. I had planned to watch this new version with the grandkids, but most of its storylines are about adult themes.
3) It seems that with this series the screenwriters are “auditioning” for a gig with LogoTV.

I was surprised that I ended up enjoying the show so much, and I really hope there is another season. But have to say Ruby’s terrible, terrible accent is killing me. I have no issues with the actress (amazingly beautiful) or her back story. If she could just ease up on the accent – fade it waaay back, I wouldn’t flinch when she comes on

Renew it is a great summer fun show
I really enjoyed this show. Please renew it for another full-length season. The writing is good and the twists are pleasantly unexpected.
Put me in the RENEW column. Most of the time the characters get a psychological makeover (as do we viewers who are open to it…). I suspect Ruby will “grow” into her younger body in future seasons.
BTW, does the morphing “A” in the title sequence signify anything other than maybe the island turns your life upside down while almost still looking “normal”? All the other letters except the “L” look similar upside down.
I loved ALL RISE and TOMMY, but they got cancelled , too. Hope FANTASY ISLAND gets renewed…
I’ve been pleasantly surprised with the new Fantasy Island. Of course I remember the original, and I enjoyed Roselyn Sanchez in some of her previous roles. My jury is still out on Ruby as I can’t quite get my head wrapped around her. Bring on Season 2 and give us more than half a dozen or so episodes.
The reboot of Fastany Island was great. Having female playing the main role was great. I e joy the island that chosen. I would like to have the show renewed. It was a great season. Next see Season 2.
We LOVE LOVE LOVE the show. Roselyn Sanchez and Kiara Barnes are beautiful, intriguing and talented actors. The supporting cast, the beautiful scenes of Puerto Rico, just a beautiful series. Please renew it.
