Your guide to events in Montague next weekend: Civil War reenactments, car show, hot air balloon launch

The Hot Rod car show is one of several events taking place in Montague from Sept. 24-26.

Events including a Civil War reenactment, a hot rod and car show, and hot air balloon launches are happening ne weekend in Montague. 

Montague Civil War Days reenactment event is set for Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 25, and 26, at Railroad Park. The camps open at 9 a.m. and close at 5 p.m. on both days. 

Civil War reenactment battles will take place on Saturday at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., and Sunday at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. The event is free, but donations are welcome. For questions and more information, call 530-598-2892. 

The Hot Rods in the Hub car show is set for Saturday, Sept. 25, at the Montague City Park from 8 a.m. to noon. At noon, a parade featuring the cars from the show will go through Montague on 11th Street. There will also be live music and vendors at the park. 

Each day on Friday, Sept. 24, Saturday, Sept. 25, and Sunday, Sept. 26, a hot air balloon is being launched at the Montague Airport. While there are no balloon rides this year, the public is welcome to watch the launch. It begins at 7 a.m. each of the three mornings. 

A drag race initially planned at the Montague airport was called off last week., the City of Montague said.

Vaccination clinic is Wednesday

The City of Montague is also hosting a vaccination clinic Wednesday, Sept. 22, along with Amy Fousek, DVM of Siskiyou Veterinary Services, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Montague Park, which is across from the Post Office. 

Vaccination costs are as follows: 

  • Rabies Vaccinations: $10 
  • Parvo vaccinations: $10 
  • Leptospirosis: $15
