First Stream Latin: Enrique Iglesias Returns With ‘Final, Vol. 1’ Album, Plus More New Music

Enrique Iglesias, Final (Vol. 1) (Sony Music International)

Seven years after releasing Sex & Love, Spanish pop star Enrique Iglesias is back with part one of his FINAL album, which he had previously announced could be his last one.  The 11-track set includes previously released hits that date back to 2015, including the Nicky Jam-assisted “El Perdón,” to his latest summer anthem “Me Pasé” with Farruko. As for the five never-before-heard tracks on the album, standouts include “Te Fuiste,” a team-up with Myke Towers produced by Ovy on the Drums, and “Pendejo,” released alongside a music video. “Te Fuiste” starts slow with prickly guitars but quickly builds momentum powered by a reggaeton beat, just in time for Myke Towers’ entrance. Meanwhile, “Pendejo,” which translates to stupid, finds a regretful Iglesias wanting to rekindle a relationship with a girl who had broken his heart. According to Iglesias, there will be a second part to FINAL. “It might be my final album,” Iglesias said during an Instagram Live earlier this month. “It’s not something that I have been thinking about for the past few months. It’s something that I have been thinking about for the past few years. There’s going to be Vol. 1 and Vol. 2, but they’re final. I’m in that moment in my life, that chapter in my life, where I think it’s the right time to put it out and I’ve been thinking about this since 2015.” — GRISELDA FLORES

Arcangel, Los Favoritos 2.5 (Rimas Entertainment)

Arcangel has dropped Los Favoritos 2.5, almost a year after presenting Los Favoritos 2, which debuted at No. 5 on the Top Latin Albums chart dated Oct. 31, becoming his second top-five debut of the year and fourth top 10 overall. On this 15-track set, the Puerto Rico artist recruited some of his longtime colleagues such as Zion y Lennox, De La Ghetto and Tempo and also reeled in a wave of edgy newcomers including Jay Wheeler, Gigolo y la Exce and Tokischa, to name a few. Los Favoritos 2.5 is part of a collaborative project that Arcangel has been working on since the release of Los Favoritos in 2015. The set kicks off with “Flow Violento,” a solo reggaeton track that sets the tone for the rest of the album: a versatile production with romantic reggaeton (“Es Complicado”), saucy perreos and dembow fusions (“Enfermo”), and even some corrido undertones (“Capos y Bichotes”). “This album means a lot to me because it is full of artists that inspire me,” Arcangel expressed in a statement. “It’s exciting to be able to continue this project, once again bringing unique sounds to the genre with each new collaboration. Sebastian Yatra, “Tarde” (Universal Music Latino)

Sebastian Yatra bares all of his emotions in his new stripped-down piano ballad “Tarde,” which was released alongside a music video shot in the streets of Venice. The track finds a vulnerable and aching Yatra narrating the tragic ending of a love story. “I have to go through what she went through. Now I’m crying the river she cried. Not sure if it’s time or it’s too late, but that’s the price I pay for being a coward. I have to see her next to someone that isn’t me.” The track was penned by Yatra in collaboration with Elena Rose, Julián Bernal, Manuel Lara and Manuel Lorente. — G.F.

Tiago PZK, “Loco” (Mad Move Records/Warner Music Chile)

Tiago PZK has released an ultra-personal track dubbed “Loco.” On this heartfelt track, co-penned by Tiago and Nicolás Cotton, the Argentine newcomer opens up about going crazy after losing a loved one. “I don’t know what to do to turn back time and see you again/ Don’t doubt my faith,” he croons in the song. Produced by Cotton, the song kicks off with a somber piano melody and Tiago’s sweet-yet-raspy vocals. Almost two minutes in, the song transitions to a downtempo hip-hop melody. “The song speaks of being strong and moving forward,” Tiago said in a statement. “It’s about overcoming and it’s dedicated to all of those who at some time lost someone and had the courage and strength to carry on.” “Loco” is an exclusive track released for the upcoming Cato movie soundtrack. — J.R.

Los Rivera Destino, “Mis Amigos” (Sony Music Latin)

In tune with their slick and witty songwriting skills, Los Rivera Destino have released a bolero inspired by friends who smoke marijuana. A soon-to-be anthem to loyalty, friendship and cannabis, the track finds the trio singing, “They are stoners, but they are my brothers and I love them as they are.” About the song’s lyrics, Los Rivera Destino said in a statement, “It’s inspired by friends that may not always have the same interests, but will always be there for each other. We all have friends that smoke weed and friends who don’t so this song shows how our differences can bring us together.” The track previews their forthcoming debut album produced by Ismael Cancel (iLe/Calle 13). — G.F.
