An Ohio cave holds the world record for the longest walk-through horror house, delivering true nightmares below ground. The Lewisburg Haunted Cave has been named one of the best haunted attractions in the nation, housing ghouls and terrors as well as 30,000 live bats.Located about 30 miles west of Dayton, the haunted attraction is widely touted as one of the best in the state — if not the nation. A walk through the haunt will take you 80-feet below ground. The attraction holds a Guinness World Record for the longest walk-through horror house at 3,563 feet. And its scares are not to be outdone by its length. The attraction was named the Best Haunted Attraction in the nation in 2018 by USA Today's Reader's Choice poll. For those not interested in scares, there is also a historic wagon tour, operated by the Lewisburg Historical Society. This tour explains the history of the Lewisburg limestone mine — home of the haunted cave and Ohio's largest brown bat population. Organizers say this tour is not scary, and you are likely to see bats. The haunted cave costs $19 or $25, depending on which dates you go. Children under the age of 10 cost $10. The wagon tours cost $12 for adults and $5 for children 10 and under. Lewisburg Haunted Cave opens for the 2021 scare season on Friday, and is open each Friday and Saturday through Oct. 30.
