The Moonfin is a limited-time fish that is exclusive to the Lunar Realm challenge in Genshin Impact. Catching five Moonfin will reward you with 1500 Battle Pass EXP in the seasonal Battle Pass. You can also use the Moonfin as a furnishing item in your Serenitea Pot. By the end of this guide, you will learn how to find and catch Moonfin in Genshin Impact.
How to Find and Catch Moonfin in Genshin Impact
The Moonfin is an outdoor furnishing item that you can obtain during the Lunar Realm event. This means that it does not serve any functionality as a fish and cannot be obtained as an item. However, it is an ornamental fish that you can store in the Pool of Sapphire Grace as a pet in your Serenitea Pot.
The Moonfin is located north of Tatarasuna and east of Nazuchi Beach in the Inazuma region. It spawns between 18:00-6:00 in-game time. Outside of this time, you will be unable to catch the fish. You can catch up to five Moonfin during the duration of the event. This means that once you catch five Moonfin, you will no longer be able to obtain more. While you will still find and catch the Moonfin fish, they will not be stored in your inventory.
To catch the Moonfin, you must use Glowgrass Bait. If you do not use this bait, the fish will not bite and you will be unable to catch the Moonfin. You can obtain Glowgrass Bait by completing Kujirai Momiji’s quest during the Day 7 Lunar Realm challenge. It is also recommended that you use the Moonstringer fishing rod that you can obtain during the Lunar Realm event. You can also obtain this fishing rod during the 7th Lunar Realm challenge. While you are not required to use this rod, it is useful to find since the rod works in any region.
Genshin Impact is available on PC, Android, iOS, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 platforms.
