Titans' Julio Jones talks disappointing Week 1, penalty

Tennessee Titans wide receiver Julio Jones had a rough debut with his new team, as he tallied just three catches for 29 yards on six targets and dropped at least one pass in the process.

Jones said his focus is now on Week 2, where he’s looking to rebound and “get the bad taste out of my mouth” after he says he “didn’t put the best version of myself out there” last Sunday.

“For me, I just want to get the bad taste out of my mouth,” Jones said. “Because I didn’t put the best version of myself out there on film. So, just can’t be anxious… it’s a process, I’ve got to work towards that, and when Sunday comes, it comes.”

During the 38-13 loss to the Arizona Cardinals, Jones committed a bad penalty that set the Titans back 15 yards and killed one of their drives.

Head coach Mike Vrabel was quite vocal about his frustration with it. Jones briefly addressed what happened on the play, but didn’t talk about Vrabel’s reaction to it.

“I never was riled up throughout the game, I was just playing the game,” Jones explained. “Just took it a little too far, that’s it.”

Jones and the Titans will look to rebound in Week 2 when they travel to Lumen Field to take on the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday at 3:25 p.m. CDT.
