Holi Hai, India’s most colorful celebration, is just around the corner and will be celebrated in Jersey City and Hoboken on September 25th. Holi is a very popular Indian festival that has many names like “Festival of Love” or “Festival of Colors” and it is a celebration of good triumphing over evil in the honor of one of the Hindu Gods. Keep reading to learn more about this all-day color festival celebration in Hudson County, and why it’s happening in the fall this year instead of spring.

About the Event
Holi is celebrated at the end of winter, on the last full moon day of the Hindu lunisolar calendar month marking the spring, making the date vary with the lunar cycle. The date falls typically in March, but sometimes in late February of the Gregorian calendar.
The Hudson River Color Walk will start at 10AM on September 25th with live performances and yoga at City Hall in Jersey City. The 2-mile walk will then continue into Pier A in Hoboken where the color festival will start at 12PM-8PM.
The main color festival will have dance performances, live music, color playing, color countdowns, local food vendors, a full bar, and more.
Participants should register for the walk at Eventbrite: all registered participants will receive a Surati Holi T-shirt and a bottle of water.
Advance tickets for the Color Walk and Festival will go from $5-$15. Prices will increase to $10-$15 at the venue.
Covid still remains a threat so steps have been taken to ensure everyone’s safety. The event will adhere to New Jersey’s COVID-19 guidelines, says the organization.
