CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – A former teacher at Northeast High School in Clarksville was arrested Thursday and charged with sex crimes against a minor.

Liliana Martiza Alvarez, 46, was charged with sexual battery by an authority figure-forcible fondling, and sexual exploitation of a minor.

Between Nov. 1, 2019 and June 23, 2020, Alvarez used her position as a teacher to get a 17-year-old to engage in sexual contact with her, according to an indictment by the September term of the Montgomery County Grand Jury obtained by Clarksville Now. The indictment also claims she engaged in online sexual activity with the teenager.

She had been employed as a teacher with CMCSS since 2013, but resigned on May 26 according to Jessica Goldberg, director of communications and marketing at CMCSS.

CMCSS had no comment on Alvarez’s arrest.
