Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker said he is open to the idea of vaccine passports in the commonwealth.
He made the comments Thursday on WGBH radio.
Baker said his administration has been talking to other states about how to create a universal system for residents to prove they’ve been vaccinated.
The governor said it’s already possible for an individual to check their vaccination status through their health provider.
“But obviously there are states and municipalities that have done something more universal than that,” he said. “And we’ve been talking to those folks and working through how that would work here in the commonwealth.”
More than 4.5 million Massachusetts residents have been fully vaccinated.

Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont said earlier this week that his state is exploring a similar action.
Rhode Island Gov. Dan McKee has not mentioned anything about vaccine passports.
